Kyle quickly exited the car, and practically ran to his room. After his experience in the car, he no longer wanted to be like this for any longer than he had to. Having two sets of memories was confusing, and it was tiring keeping track of what occurred to who. He was afraid of what was happening to him, and he wanted to get back to normal before he did anything he might regret.
Kyle found the bag of clothes Beryl had prepared, and brought it into Beryl's room with him. He pulled out the hat and examined it. It was a large red baseball cap, with no distinctive features or logos. He didn't remember owning a hat like this, but everything was getting so jumbled in his head he couldn't be sure. He did remember what Beryl had asked him, and he trusted her, so he placed the hat on his head.
Immediately, his head began to change. With some regret, he felt his thoughts slow and become more simple. His head began to get larger as he had expected, but it also felt strange. His hair was returning to a blonde color, but it seemed much lighter than before. The hair also seemed to be getting longer, stretching down past his neck, instead of shrinking into the short buzz cut he usually wore. His face was slightly larger, and his nose was slightly bigger, but his face still felt soft and had those smooth features. "Like, what hell?" said Kyle, surprised by the sound of voice. It was very high and soft, with a Valley girl accent.
Suddenly he was distracted by a shimmering in the corner. He saw the vague figure of a woman, like a dim picture that was out of focus. Slowly, the figure became brighter, and gained definition, and he saw that it was Beryl. "Whoa, that was weird, " she said.
She looked at Kyle, then began laughing. "Oh my god, " she said, between bursts of laughter. "You should see the look on your face."
