Joe woke up to find his pajama shirt was loose.
"That's, weird," Joe thought but didn't think much of it.
He went downstairs to get some breakfast to find his mom sat at the table.
Was it just him or did she look different.
"You, look nice Mom."
"Oh, honey you're so sweet. You know I don't know what happened, but I woke up this morning and my clothes, seem to be tighter. I think I read about it on line that women can experience random growth spurts into their thirties."
"Oh really, strange."
Joe began poured himself some cereal and started to eat. When a girl ran down the stairs, wrapped in a towel, crying. It took Joe a second to figure out that it was Amy.
"Mom, none of my clothes fit." She said in-between sobs.
"Oh my god Amy, we're going to the doctor now. You'll have to borrow your brothers clothes." Mom said seriously, which was rare.
Joe just continued to eat his cereal.
"In fact Joe, you haven't had a check up for a while, you should come too."
Joe shrugged and nodded.
"Okay well, put your shoes on."
Amy came back down the stairs wearing Joe's old clothes from when he was in middle school.
They seemed to fit her surprisingly well. It was strange, Joe had heard of girls growing quickly when they started puberty, but nothing this extreme. Amy was only ten anyway.
They drove to the doctor and went straight into doctor Jax's room. Mom explained to him what had happened and he looked slightly amazed.
"Right, um, well, lets just take some measurements then and I'll see if I can recommend anything."
Amy then underwent a ten minute long measuring session by a nurse. Who wrote everything she found on a clip board.
"Well, there's nothing wrong with Amy per say, alot of things in food these days can have detrimental effects on growth and development, but I've never seen it to this degree." He said as he polished his glasses.
"What do you recommend?"
"I recommend, you take measurements of her every day, come back next week, and more then anything, buy new clothes." He said with a chuckle. "that's all I can say for now, if this continues, we can send a blood sample for analysis. Maybe find out what's happening to her, an try to reverse it."
"Yes, I think that's a good idea."
Dr Jax nodded. "Right I assume it's Joe's turn, I have his previous measurements here. A very healthy young man, 6'3", 8% body muscle, lets see how you are now."
Joe underwent the same process any had undergone, a nurse taking all of his measurements on a separate clipboard. She gave it to Dr jax who looked over it surprised.
"Well, that's very strange."
"What is?" Joe and mom asked in unison.
"A decrease in body muscle I can understand. As well as an increase in body fat. However a loss of six inches in height is very strange."
"What?" Joe asked enraged.
"Please calm down Joe, It would appear that you have shrunk to five foot nine."
Dr jax sighed. "I recommend the same treatment as Amy, if this continues please call me. I'm sorry but there is nothing else I can do for you."
"No, thank you Dr, you've been a big help." Mom said
They walked out of the surgery, and went home. Amy teased Joe all day that he was shrinking and she was growing. He ignored her for the most part, but it did bother him. Especially since mom was as tall as him now, as far as he was aware she had never been taller than 5'7" and now she was 5'11".
He was scared that this would continue until Saturday when he had his date with Jennie. And so he called her to see if they could go out tonight as well.
Jennie's pov
"why is this blouse so tight round my chest," she sighed as the phone rang.
"Hello," she answered.
"Hi Jennie, its Joe."
"Oh hi, Joey, what is it?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to meet up?"
"park?" Jennie said smiling.
"park" joey confirmed.
They hung up.
"mom, I'm going out."
