Then they hear from a distance, “Hold on guys!” Running up, they could tell it was Sandra. “Sorry I left you guys over some stupid Aztec things. That stuff’s stupid!”
“We thought we had lost you, don’t go off so far next time.” Daniel replied.
Sandra smiled up at Daniel, “You worried about me?”
“Yeah, this place is huge.”
“And scary.” Sandra holds on to his bicep. “I need a muscley man to look after me.”
Daniel laughed, “I’m right here babe.”
Andrew annoyed by the amateur flirting, “There’s a light over there guys, we better see what it is.”
“Oh yeah,” Daniel remembered. “We better see.”
They started towards the light. It was a tunnel opening that led to another mineshaft hallway. Sandra whispered in Daniels ear, “You are really sexy.” Daniel looked back and saw through the poor lighting her jacket was zipped down to give an easy view of her cleavage. He was getting aroused by this, and already trying to remember where he put his condoms. Andrew was leading the way, oblivious to this, trying to see around the corner. Soon the hallway looked much less abandoned. The blue light was actually from a number of blue electric lights. The hallway was dirty, but with all the junk in order rather than left lying. Andrew remarked, “Someone must come here occasionally. We should check to see if there is anyone here.”
Sandra whispered to Daniel, “I wanna fuck you so bad.” Daniel replied to Andrew, “Uh, yeah man we will check this room over here. You should see what’s up ahead, that wooden door looks interesting.” Andrew replied, “Yeah, just don’t lose track of this hallway so we can find each other.” Daniel and Sandra entered the room to the side. It looked like a handful of small storage rooms. Perfect for the activities they had planned so discreetly. Andrew went to check out the door. It was clearly thick, quality wood, with a metal ring door handle. It had a strong looking lock, but it was left unlatched. He opened it slowly and peeked around, “Hello? Anyone here?” Quiet.
The room was lit with blue lanterns just like the hallway. It was a large beautiful room filled with book cases, cabinets, tables, and a large desk. It was complete with fancy rugs, chairs, tapestries, and drapes (without windows? This was a mine shaft). Clearly this place was not abandoned like they thought, but it was dusty and not particularly clean. Did someone live here or not, Andrew thought. In addition to books, on one side there were all kinds of flasks, and chemical ingredients in plastic tubs. It looked like a scientific lab setup until he saw the weird stuff like hair, plants, bones and teeth. It was a little bit scary when he thought he recognized human teeth. He tried to ignore that and looked at the obviously animal teeth - some sharp like a cat’s and some very big. He recognized the large horse teeth, remembering the horses that used to be on his grandfather’s farm.
Looking around there were even more rooms to explore. Maybe the owner of this place was in one of them. Then Andrew noticed the centerpiece. It was a softball sized silver sphere. It was placed on a brick pedestal, as if it was important but to be used often. Andrew – of course – goes to pick it up. It is heavy like a solid piece of metal would be, and cool to the touch. Slowly it starts to vibrate slightly. Then it vibrates more. Then more. Then violently. Then Andrew feels his body start to vibrate. He immediately shoves it back down. It felt as though an energy had filled him causing him to shake, almost shiver. “What is this thing?” The sphere stopped vibrating, but now it glowed slightly. Andrew had stopped shaking too, but now he felt really queazy. Then he notices...
