For a few minutes, the ship sailed on as usual, despite the entirely feminine crew. However, one crewmember suddenly abandoned her post and slowly walked over to the side of the ship.
"Crewman-- crewwoman-- whatever," Emilia shouted, "back to your post, on the double!" The crewwoman ignored her and started to look over the bow.
"That's an order sailor!" Manuela shouted. Still she ignored and leaned over, further and further until, she tumbled over the rail.
"Man-- woman overboard!" Another crew member shouted.
"Drop anchor! Ready the longboat!" Manuela shouted. The crew sprang into action. Two crewmembers were lowered in the longboat and started searching around for any sign of the missing sailor.
Suddenly, something breached the water's surface, flying as high as the bow. It was a mermaid! As it hung in the air, Emilia recognized the face of the crewwoman who dropped overboard. Two more splashes signaled the departure of the two sailors in the longboat.
"Pull it up," Emilia shouted, "get two more women in there, we got to get them out of there!"
As the longboat was brought back to deck level, the two women resurfaced, waving their new tails at the crew before pulling one another into a passionate kiss, and were soon joined by the first one to go over. A couple more crewmembers dove in.
"What's going on here," Emilia said to Manuela, "could this be another effect of that mist!?" It was then that The brothers turned sisters began to hear a beautiful melody in their minds. It was coming from the ocean, and was as a mother calling her child home. They leaned over the side of the ship deck.
