The old man returned with several old blue jeans. He plopped them on the counter, then blew away the layers of dust covering them. "Here you go. Some blue jeans. Them is men's pairs, but I figured your friend wouldn't care anyways if she could squeeze into them."
Beryl looked at Kyle, and he shook his head. They both knew that the jeans would only change his lower half; it wouldn't help his painful chest, and he didn't want to make things worse by becoming some kind of weird hermaphrodite.
Beryl looked at the old man, and shook her head, too.
"Don't you want to even try them? They may be old, but they're still good. Never been worn."
"No, what we really need are tops. We were hoping to find a dress, but we'll even take shirts if you've got them."
The old man shook his head, sadly. "Nope, sorry that's just about all I got."
"Okay, thanks," said Beryl, as she slowly began to walk to the door by Kyle. The old man watched them intently. Kyle idly brushed one of the stuffed animals, as he waited for Beryl to reach him by the front door. Suddenly, the old man brightened.
"Wait, wait. Don't go just yet. I remembered that I might have something that would suit your needs. Just wait here, " he said, as he went into the back of the store out of view, into a storeroom behind the checkout counter. Beryl and Kyle walked up to the counter, and waited patiently for the man to return. The old man quickly reappeared, and plopped a short green dress down on the counter. It looked like an elegant strapless evening dress, and seemed to shine in the light. Kyle, thought it was beautiful, and wondered what a nice dress like that was doing in a dump like this.
"Pretty, isn't she? Brand new, never been worn!" he said proudly. Beryl and Kyle's eyes lit up with that. At least he wouldn't be changing into another strange person and get any more weird memories. "It looks a bit snug for your friend there, but you said she would try anything."
Beryl looked at Kyle. Kyle saw that it was a short dress, and would just cover his upper thighs if he wore it. He didn't know much about women's clothes and sizes, but he guessed it wouldn't change his height too much. However, the area around chest looked way too small to accommodate his ample bosom. He hoped the curse would take care of that, after he put the dress on. He eagerly nodded his head at Beryl.
"I think my friend likes it. Is there some place she can try it on?"
"Well , I don't have no dressing rooms, if that's what you're thinking, but I guess she can use my stockroom back there."
