The Magic Shop

Accidentally becomes the girl across the street

added 7 years ago AR BM TG O

Oliver had never felt so alive. His whole body tingled with the possibilities that this ring could give him. The fact that he was back to being just thirteen years old was proof positive that the ring worked, and if the instructions were any indication, he could have even more fun. The possibilities were endless, and Oliver wasn't about to let caution get the best of him. Maybe it was his regained youthful exuberance, or maybe something in the ring, but Oliver didn't even consider the fact he might cause trouble or get into it by using the ring. All he wanted to do was try something else.

Of course, Oliver thought about his nephews. The two boys were only five, but they were bundles of energy and as thick as thieves, practically inseparable. The fact that they were identical twins gave them a strange sort of esp too, and sometimes they pretended to be one another. Oliver had been the younger of two brothers, and the possibility to have a twin brother, let alone an identical twin seemed wicked cool.

He could become either one of them just by thinking of them, but that was "Safe". He wanted to actually become one, to open his eyes and see his new twin next to him. The fact that they were both five also meant no messy diapers, so he didn't need to worry about anything gross.

"Alright," I'll do it!" He thought to himself.

His nephews came over all the time, and being kids they left clothes or shoes or toys all over the house, so it didn't take long to find one of their socks. He couldn't know which one it belonged to of course, but what did it matter.

Peeling off his adolescent sneakers he chuckled to himself. The sock was tiny and he could barely fit it on the end of his huge foot. It didnt even occur to him that the tapered edge had a pink hue as he closed his eyes.

The familiar sense of vertigo overcame his body. He tingled all over, but promised himself to keep his eyes shut. He didnt want to see the change this time, just feel it and open his eyes to see his new world. The change was quick, and he didn't worry about clothes, if he was becoming someone else, he assumed that he would wake up just as they were in that moment.

Finally the change stopped and Oliver opened his eyes, then he blinked. The room he was in wasn't a boys room, no. There were pastel colors, pinks, yellows and softer blues. There were dolls and girls toys, a dollhouse and girls clothes in the closet. This wasn't his nephews room. Scampering over to a mirror, he let out a squeak.

A girl stood in the mirror, a little girl no older than five years old, with soft dimpled cheeks and lovely tan-brown skin. Her hair flowed long black down her back, and a little red dot centered on her forehead. The girl wore traditional garb of an indian child. Oliver knew this girl, his next door neighbor Annada who the two twins would play with sometimes when they came over. Somehow he had gotten one of her clothes by mistake!

"Oh my," Oliver exclaimed, and his voice had even changed, now that of the young girl he belonged to. "I must turn back..."
