Ty woke up at the crack of dawn, suddenly struck with inspiration. He flew into the dining hall, past his mother, grabbed a berry to eat along the way and began to pass her again when she stopped him.
"My son, a moment, wait! Is there something for which you are late?"
"I know the one I wish to marry, but she is not a fairy." Ty went on to tell her of a girl named Rebecca. She and Ty were friends since Kindergarten, and in that time they got to be good friends, but she didn't have a very good home life. Her Father was a drunk who, at best ignored her, and at worst, abusive. Her mother was apathetic to it all, bottling up her emotions until the day she snapped, lashed out at him and ran off, leaving both her husband and Rebecca alone. It was probably that reason why she was infatuated with fantasy stories; tales of brave heroes freeing princesses from monsters and wicked stepmothers. This never waned as later on, she gravitated to stories like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
Ty continued to explain how he always wished he could be her knight in shining armor and whisk her away from her abysmal life to a magical kingdom and treat her as she always should've been, like a princess. Now, he has that chance.
"I'm sure that she'll agree-- to her home, a chance to flee."
Queen Rose Bloom smiled and took the berry from Ty's hand. She waved her hand over it, showering it with magic; turning it gold and translucent. "Give her this to chew and swallow; her transformation soon will follow."
"I hope my speech isn't scary, rhyming like a fairy."
"Remember when I spoke not like a fay, in human form at first that way? Your language takes the human norm, when you're in that very form."
Ty nodded and quickly headed out on his mission. Soon he reached Rebecca's home. The window was open so he flew in. Rebecca was still asleep, so Ty changed into human form. His wings and antennae retreated, his leafy clothing morphed into a t-shirt and jeans, and he grew back to his human size and proportions. "He gently stroked her head and softly said, "Wake up, Rebecca."
Rebecca stirred from her sleep and was jolted awake at the sight of Ty sitting on her bed. "Ty! What are you doing here?"
Ty Shushed her. "Your father doesn't know I'm here, best we keep it that way."
Rebecca nodded in agreement, Ty wasn't her father's favorite person on the best of days. "So, how'd you get in? The front door's locked."
"The window."
Rebecca couldn't see a ladder propped up against it. "Well, whatever. Why are you here, anyway?"
"To give you your freedom. I've come to take you away from this place, to somewhere you'll be treated right by people who care about you."
Rebecca smirked. "'A' for romance, but 'F' for reality."
"In that case, let's try fantasy." Ty stood up and began to change back into his fairy form. Rebecca's eyes grew wide as she saw her childhood friend shrink to inches tall, sprout silver butterfly wings and antennae and see his clothes change to a leafy suit. She was stunned silent. "I was shocked as well when yesterday, I learned my real mom was queen of the fae." Ty then handed the enchanted berry to Rebecca. "All you need to do is eat this berry, then like me, you'll be a fairy; with the hope that we will marry."
"Marry?" Rebecca pondered Ty's words. "So, if your mom's a Queen, that'd make you a prince?"
"And you would be a princess, and sprout a flower dress."
"I do like pretty dresses; but, I don't know."
"You only have this sorry life, a small price to pay; to pledge yourself my wife, a princess of fae." Ty dropped the berry into Rebecca's hands. She looked at it, and took a few moments to consider this proposal.
