"A fairy?" 9901 inquired.
"Mythological being," 9902 answered; "commonly depicted physical attributes include diminutive size, pointed ears, insectoid wings, and sometimes antennae and overwhelmingly female gender within artwork and media as they are considered highly feminine beings."
"As, yes, I've got the information on display now. Very charming beings, I must say;" 01 turned to the woman who had filed her daughter's application for conversion; "but will it fit with her chosen vocation."
"That's what we're here to clarify." The mother said. "All she said was she wanted to be was a fairy."
"The TV said you can change people into anything they wanna be, right?" The 10-year old girl, Tina, spoke up. "I wanna be a fairy!"
9901 knew from past experiences to always simplify things when addressing organic children, so she sat the girl onto her lap. "We certainly can, but only if it is helpful to all of us. So, Tina, tell me, what do you like to do?"
"I like playing games, helping mommy in the garden, having tea parties." Tina said. "I also like to dance!"
"Hmm, perhaps the gardening caste would fit, or the entertainment caste would apply to her love of dancing." 02 said.
"We'll give her both Headlinks and see which she prefers." 01 said.
"Head...ink?" The girl gave a confused look.
"Headlink." 02 clarified. "Think of it as a field trip inside of a computer. You'll be able to visit others like us and see what they can do. You don't even have to go on a bus; we can do it right here!"
"Good, 'cause those things are bumpy!"
"After that, you tell us which one you want to be, and we'll make you a Gynoid fairy that can do all that they can do, and more!"
"YAY!" Tina squealed.
"And she'll still be my little girl when it's over, right?" Tina's mother, Sally, asked, concerned.
"In heart and mind, nothing will be different. In body, however, she may have to be even littler to facilitate her flight."
"I wanna look like Tinkerbell, but with butterfly wings!" Tina blurted out.
01 accessed images of the character. "That body structure would require a height of no more than 45 centimeters head to toe and wingspan of around 60 centimeters in order to maintain an agile flight."
"That small..." Sally said, "...she'll be so fragile!"
"Don't worry, ma'am;" 02 said; "though she won't be as durable as a full size Gynoid, she'll still be hardier than she is even now."
"Come on mommy, I want to do it." Tina said, eagerly.
"Calm down, this is a big decision." Sally said, holding her daughter tight. "You can't just decide you want to be human again if you do this. This will be forever."
"I know, you told me a million times now."
"Okay, let's go then." Sally said. Tina squealed again as she ran to the door. "Don't run off now!" Sally shouted. She sighed, "To think I'll have to deal with her flying on top of this."
Inside the Headlink, Tina mingled with Gardener class Gynoids from all over the universe, tending strange and wonderful flowers she'd only seen in her dreams, carving topiaries and creating beautiful images made entirely of flowers with help from artisans. Next, she saw the entertainers. Opera singers in ballgown shaped bodies with heavenly voices like nothing humans can replicate, ballerinas leaping so high, they clear right over her head, and even actors in a comedy.
Tina emerged from the Headlink. "Wow, they were all so beautiful and neat, it's almost too hard to choose!"
"Take as much time as you want to, Tina." Sally said.
