"The curator also wants to invite Molly to the nightly premiere of the Sphinx mummy unveiling!" Julia added eagerly.
"... That's not my call to make." I whispered.
"Then can you put Molly on the line so I can ask her?"
"Julia! Molly is suffering ENOUGH! You can't expect her to show up looking pretty! She'll be a sideshow!"
"She'll be the guest of honor! She's the whole reason the dang thing opened to begin with! I'm not joking about the discovery of the century cousin! This changes so much of what we thought was myth and what we thought was fact! Molly deserves to be there!"
"For being mutated by a buncha sick freaked?"
"This might be what she needs. And didn't you say that this wasn't your decision to make?"
I startled at Julia's turn around. I startled more when Molly behind me said. "I'll do it."
I turned around. "Molly, you heard?"
She pointed at her ears. "Yes I heard every word. I WANT to go dear. I NEED to go. I can feel it in my bones. This is something that I have to do."
Given she'd felt like she had to ask riddles, and had developed a taste for rare meat, "I'm not so sure that's a good idea Molly."
"If I'm invited, then I'm going. Let.... let them stare if they want. If I have to go naked I will. Let them be scared if they want. I can feel it in my bones. This feels like... like destiny."
"You never believed in destiny Molly."
"I know! But I never believed I'd turn into a bird, cat, human mix either! Maybe it's all in my head. But ... I really REALLY need this dear."
Looking at those fangs, claws, and muscles, and those eyes, I don't think I could have stopped her. "Alright Molly, I wasn't trying to make your choice for you, I just wanted to make sure you were making an informed one."
"That's very sweet of you dear, thank you." She purred and rubbed up against me. We told Julia, and she was so excited Molly would be there, she said she'd make all the arrangements herself and not to worry.
