Trevor was a bit surprised the shuttle to the Down on the Farm section wasn’t as full as he expected it to be on the boat ride over here. Then again, aside from the fact that it was a weekday, it probably wasn’t as exotic or exciting as some of the other options. But, as far as he was concerned, he wanted his first transformation to be into something a bit more familiar. Plus, having spent time at his aunt and uncle’s farm every summer for a while as a kid, there were plenty of times Trevor had secretly wondered what it would be like to be one of the animals there.
Looking around the bus and seeing some of the other occupants, Trevor was still taken back by how crazy this was. Here he was, in a bus with (among a few others) a woman and her husband that looked to be retired, a young woman and her friend, and a family and their three kids, and they were all on their way to become farm animals.
There was a jolt as the shuttle bus started moving and he watched on as they left the docks area and started heading inland. He smiled when the bus came to an intersection and he saw the road signs pointing to different areas of the resort. The bus took the right turn. Based on the road sign, it looked like the shuttle would be going past the Forest, Jungle, and Flight Dome areas of the park before getting to On the Farm district of the resort. The Deep Desert and Insectarium districts were beyond that.
Trevor let out a sigh and settled into his seat the best he could. According to the road sign, it was going to be a thirty-six mile or fifty-eight kilometer trip to his district. He almost wished he would have brought his phone with him to pass the time, but he remembered reading on the brochure that the island didn’t have much reception. Plus, using the devices was apparently discouraged here.
Instead, he picked up a set of headphones that was wired to the back of the seat in front of him and chose the English option as he started listening to the informational track about the island.
There was a slight bump as the bus started making its way up a bridge that traversed an inlet and Trevor glanced out his window to see the In the City district of the resort splayed out on the other side of the inlet and the mountains looming in the distance. He got a glimpse of someone in a park playing fetch with a dog and wondered if the dog had been human just a few days ago or if the person just brought their pet with them. What if the dog was the other’s spouse or even their sibling but the other wasn’t comfortable with changing yet? Either way, the two seemed to be enjoying themselves.
