"Hello ma'am. Can I help you with anything?" A secretary asked as Ashley approached the desk in the Animal DNA Splicing wing. Simple body modifications seemed boring, and she really wasn't interested in cloning herself as is. And the nano technology she couldn't quite understand. So animal hybrid it was.
"What can you tell me about the different options available?" she asked.
"Here, this is the standard pamphlet we give prospective patients. No matter what procedure you get, all transformations are monitored in closed quarters. You'll check into the facility for five days, the first of which are to prepare your body for the change. Afterward the change is completed, there are some tests performed for make sure your body has adjusted accordingly. And if the doctors green light you, you're free to leave." the secretary explained.
"Are there limitations? Like in terms of species?" Ashley asked.
"Well I won't lie, choosing something aquatic can be problematic. We get lots of girls looking to be mermaids who don't realize what the entails *(pun intended)*. Reptiles can be tricky since they're cold blooded, which means patients have to live in tropical area after the change. Our scientists are working on a way to amend this, but as of yet they haven't figured out a way around that problem."
Ashley nodded, and thanked the secretary. Then she went to sit down to go over the pamphlet. It wasn't too large, but there were a lot of factors to consider. Transformations could increase body mass, restrict diets, even change personalities (i.e. herd animals and carnivores have very different personalities). Mary flipped through the booklet, marveling at the wide variety of animals to choose from.
But her eyes kept getting drawn to one page in particular...
