You figure that waiting for Keith to pass through the corgi is way too awkward to consider.
The corgi sits in front of you. He bends his body so he can scratch himself behind the ear with a stubby hind leg. You had to admit the dog was rather cute.
You take a deep breath and hit a button on the key once again, hoping against hope that this brings your friend Keith back to normal. There is another flash, and when the light clears this time...
The corgi is still sitting there, scratching himself behind the ear. "Daaaaaaamn, that really hits the spot there," the corgi says, in a voice that sounds very familiar.
You blink. "Keith?!"
The corgi pauses scratching, and looks up. "Yeah? What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
You debate trying to tip toe around the topic, but you'd just seen your friend turned into a dog treat, eaten by a corgi, and then accidentally turned the corgi's owner into a hydrant. You believe that you've bypassed the time of subtly. "Dude! You're a corgi!"
"Yeah. And...?"
You think that Keith might not be hearing you right. "You are literally a dog, barking, scratching, four legs, everything."
The corgi continues to stare at you, giving an incredulous look. "So, what's the big deal? Shouldn't we be getting to that college open house thing? I don't wanna be late for my date with Fifi tonight." The corgi winks.
You stare, realizing that he's talking about Fifi, the German shepherd your neighbors owned, and also that Keith thought that being a corgi was completely normal. Damn, these keys were even more powerful than expected.
"Dude, we better get going! Come on!" The corgi trots towards your new car. You follow, pausing at the hydrant as you pass, briefly considering changing the owner back, but deciding you didn't want to deal with that for now. Your best friend being a corgi was all you wanted to deal with for now. You'll come back and fix the lady later.
You have to help Keith hop into the car, because his stubby legs can't handle the jump into the car, and you are on your way to the college open house.
