Battle Stations! (Earth-2)

Once close enough to Seattle, Evan stopped to call his wife, and then call his SEAL friends. Maggie was furious, naturally, and hung up to call the Andersons. Evan hoped she wouldn’t do anything rash. When Maggie got mad, boy was she something.

“Evan, where are you man? Already had two rounds?” Evan’s squad-mate Derek answered his phone. There was significant background noises, mostly people yelling at TVs, and the sounds of bar glasses clinking.

“Put the drinks down, and grab your gear. We’ve got a situation on our hands.”

“What’s what?” Derek asked, jumping into soldier mode. The other SEALs at the bar, five equally intimidating werewolves, heard Evan’s voice and stopped what they were doing. Evan was their platoon’s (pack to fellow weres) Beta. They followed his lead when their Alpha was away, which he was at the moment.

“Got a tracking mission to do. Bower’s father and two accomplices are in Washington. They’re plotting something, and I want them shut down before they get the chance to do anything. No clue where they are, but they’re heading for Moon Lake.” Evan said.

“We’re ready to go when you are Evan. Where are you?” Derek asked.

“If I obey the speed limits, fifteen minutes away from your guys.”

“How do you want to attack this sir?” another SEAL asked.

“Who’s there?”

“Richards, Donatelli, Rivera, Russo, McNally, and Newman.” Derek said.

“Send Russo and Donatelli back to the base. Have them search security camera, check points, airports, and send alerts to the local police. We need to know which direction they’re coming from. We’ll head out in teams of two, and wait until they get some confirmation on Bower’s party’s location.” Evan said.

“Right, you heard that guys. Get going!” Derek shouted, “We’ll meet you at Cougar Mountain Regional Park?”

“Sounds good. See you then, and sorry for screwing up our evening.” Evan sighed.

“Evan, don’t worry. Maggie and Spencer are important to you, and important to us. That kid’s like a niece to me.” Derek said.

“Thanks Derek.” Evan said. He hung up, and did everything in his power not to floor the gas.

Jeremiah Bower Sr, Bruce Peterson, and this Hanson man met at a Shell station about three hours from Seattle.

“Hanson, good to see you,” Bower said, “this is Bruce Peterson. Bruce, Fred Hanson.”

The two men shook hands and exchanged quick “hellos” before Bower started talking again.

“What’s the game plan Jere?” Hanson asked.

“How well do you know the land?”

“Well. You’re going to go into town on foot I assume. There are a few rest stops where you can park your car that aren’t too far away. What have you got in the way for weapons?”

Bower motions for Hanson to come around to the back of his car. He points out the duffle bags full of guns, ammunition and even a few grenades.

“There’s enough fire power to storm terrorist’s house in the Middle East. Will reduce the target to Swiss cheese.” Bower said.

“Impressive, but not practical. Carrying this over long distances, that won’t do you any good. Also makes you more obvious in the woods. Metal and guns have distinct scents, and I’m sure there are plenty of weres who could hear your gear clanking against each other from a mile away.”

“So what would you suggest we do?” Bruce asked.

“Keep it simple. Less is more. Take what you need to get in, get what you want, and get out in one piece. I’ll be backing you up from a distance, I can handle the heavy stuff.” Hanson said.

“So how should we approach?”

“East, there’s a large lake that crosses the town borders. Free land for hikers and normals to pass through. If we cut along the lake, there’s a trail leading to the residential section of Moon Lake. We can sniff out the Lawson’s location from there.”

“That simple huh? Alright. And Jeremy’s good to go the second he can?” Bower asked.

“I told him. And I have to say, he seemed oddly reluctant. Even angry.”

“Angry? What ungrateful brat, how does he get off feeling angry at me? I’m risking my hide to spring him from prison!” Bower growled.

“The beating he took to the head fucked up his judgement.” Hanson said.

The men went over a few details about their plan before hitting the road again. Hanson followed Bower at a safe distance, so no one thought he was trying to follow anyone.

“Just checking one last time before we do this. You’re sure Jere? No going back once we do this.” Bruce said.

“I’m sure. I want those Lawsons to be held accountable for what they did.”

Raising Jeremy had been enough of a challenge. But after he started seeing Spencer, Jeremy became a complete waste of space. No bending to his father’s will, and spending all his time obsessing over Spencer. But that would end very soon
