Doctors Curry and Tachibana had just finished their catching up and were beginning to discuss the case at hand. Tora handed over the files as he commented, “In preparation, I had this one blown-up. You can see here the area in question and the rupture. It’s nearly a centimeter of affected tissue along the Anterior Communicating Artery.”
Mera hrmms, “From my experience, there must have been a sharp increase in the pressure on the vessel walls to tear the artery walls like that in such a young and healthy weremer, technically it would be impossible unless something inferred with the girl’s natural healing ability since the tissue should regenerate and repair itself. However, I would guess that the increase of intracranial pressure is consistently keeping the tissue so damaged that it cannot be regenerated properly. We would need to relieve that pressure…” She suddenly stopped with a wide-eyed expression.
Doctor Tachibana blinked and looked to her, “You have an idea of what happened?”
Doctor Curry nods, “I think I might. I strongly suggest we do a camera-guided exploration of the intervascular tissue around the area of the aneurysm. There are no signs of here but it might not be visible on the MRI. If my guess is right, then when the link was severed, the backlash likely caused an issue in her brain that her natural regeneration tried to fix. Her body was trying to heal but there was nothing PHYSICALLY wrong so it kept trying which lead to a dilation of the vessels, increasing blood flow and blood pressure, sending more blood to the area flooding her brain with hormones…”
Tora sighed and looked grim, “Creating the perfect environment for the storm of irrational behavior and delusions. And if we fix it, if we cannot address what caused it, then it is likely to repeat.”
Mera nodded, “That is likely. Though there is a chance that we can avoid if she responds well to the therapy.”
Tora’s cellphone began to buzz. He picked it up and answered then nodded, “Please. Thank you.” He looked to Mera, “The Stovalls are here. Time to face the parents.”

A note on what Damien did for clarification:
Damien merely used a minor bit of 'magic' to heal the broken connection and 'reset it'. He did not in any alter what would have happened otherwise, merely hung up the open line allowing a new dialer as it were. Arthur's arrival and whatever might come next is merely happenstance. The physical damage has NOT been resolved and the surgery will absolutely still be needed to ensure proper healing. Expending that sort of power or ability would be FAR too noticeable and would undermine, in my humble opinion, the development of the story which I think we all wish to see furthered rather than detracted from.
A further note on the Astrophels for others information if they should wish to include/explore the family in their chapters:
The Astrophel clan are not weres per say but rather 'true dragons' with an inherit shapeshifting ability however they cannot replicate others exactly. They're not doppelgangers. As a clan, they are largely ambivalent and extremely reclusive. They owned much land in the area however a deal was made with the original clans of weres where in that received an exceptional deal on the land in return they would protect the area and keep normals away, ensuring a bastion of naturalism and natural power in a shrinking world. They do have what humans might refer to as 'magic' and they themselves phrase as 'High Arcana' but in this case it means only very old secrets and manipulation of various forms of energy. They do not stand around chanting and casting spells. Even they would find that rather absurd.
A final note on Damien Astrophel: Damien Astrophel is the heir of the clan and technically only a whelpling, being less than half a century old. However he is far more interested in the outside world than most of the clan. Rather than the general ambivalence most of them feel for others; he is strongly benevolent and wants to help those he meets.
