Chief O'Hara looked at Agent Green as he began to walk out the door. If Chief O'Hara was to tell him the town's secret, now was the best time.
"Mr. Green," Chief O'Hara said, "If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to talk to you for a minute.
Agent Green stopped and turned around to face the police chief.
"Of course," he said, "I don't mind at all." He walked over to the chair on the opposite side of the police chief's desk and sat down.
The police chief then twiddled his thumbs under his desk before saying, "Alright, listen. I've been around the block a few times, and I know when someone is trying to hide something. I know that your wife doesn't make plushes, and you don't know the real reason this town was founded."
Agent Green looked confused. "What are you talking about?," he asked.
"I know your wife is a werecat, and before you freak out, let me tell you."
"I'm listening."
"Moon Lake isn't a normal town. It's a sanctuary for were beasts like your wife. This town is full of them. Almost everyone here is a were creature of some kind. In fact, your clients, Jen and Tad Decker are were beasts. Why do you think they moved back here?"
Agent Green sat there, trying to take in what he just heard. "So you are telling me that everyone in this town is a were beast of some kind?"
"Not everyone," Police Chief O'Hara said, "There are a few normals in the town that have promised to keep the town's secret."
"So you're saying that if me and my wife move here, she won't have to worry about exposing her secret?"
"Exactly."
"That's great! I'll have to talk to her! Oh, and one more thing... Do you think that you can give me the address to a weretiger around here? I think I might want to talk to one about becoming one so I can surprise my wife when she gets to our new home."
The chief sighed. "I'm afraid I can't give you the address of the local tiger in charge of a pack, but if you go to the town chancellor and talk to her, she might be able to give you the number of one and help you find a new home."
"That's great, thank you," Agent Green said, shaking the Police Chief's hand before walking out.
As he stepped out of the building, he pulled out his phone and called his wife.
"Honey, it's me. Start packing. I'm buying us a home here."
He heard a joyful meow on the other line.
