No way, thought John. This feels great, but its not worth spending the rest of my life here. If I want to get home, I need to stay human.
John lifted a startled Lucy off his body, and dropped her to the ground beside him. She squawked and hissed, trying to get her bearings and stand up. John didn't wait. He stood up and ran out the door, leaving his fur blanket behind. His erect penis retracted into his cloacae like it was on a sling.
Oh well, thought John as he stood in front of the cabin. That's one less thing to worry about.
John scanned the surroundings, looking for some way path or way to escape. It was dark, but his reptilian eyes allowed him to see surprisingly well. He could try crossing the lake back to where he met Celia. But even as a hybrid gator, he doubted he could outswim Lucy. It might be bad if the angry gator caught up with him in the middle of the lake. He could try walking around the lake, but he couldn't see a path and thought it might be easy to get lost. He saw something that resembled a path behind Lucy's house. But it appeared to be leading away from where he started. But he thought he did see some lights down the path. Maybe it was another village. With real people.
Lucy suddenly appeared in the doorway. Her hands were on her hips and she glared at him.
"And just where do you think you are going?" said Lucy angrily.
"Home, " said John, as he began to walk away.
Lucy chuckled. "Yeah, right. I tried that too when I first got here. But there is no way out. It's impossible. Face it, you are stuck here. Might as well spend your life with me."
John turned and stared her down. "With a liar and a thief? No thanks, I would rather be on my own."
"Why you ungrateful...." began Lucy. "I take you into my home, feed you, offer you a place to stay. Hell, I save you from having to be a stinky skunk and this is how you repay me? Fine, go. I wouldn't want to be with someone like you anyway."
John started to walk away again.
"Wait! Don't go, " said Lucy, as she grabbed his arm. "John, you don't know what it's like out there. If you think Celia and I are bad, you should see the others. They are much worse. They would eat you as soon as screw you. Stay with me. I'll protect you. We don't even need to have sex. We could just be friends and keep each other company. I am so very lonely, John. You don't know how lonely it can get out here by yourself."
John looked down at his arm. Already his scales were fading. Soon, he would be smaller than Lucy again. He pulled his arm away.
"Sorry, Lucy. I have to try. I can't just give up and stay here," said John.
He walked away and Lucy remained back at her cabin, yelling at John as he left.
"You'll be sorry, John. There are worse things than me out there. Much, much worse. They'll make you wish you had never left me, " said Lucy.
John ignored her and continued to walk away. When Lucy was just out of his sight, John thought he heard her softly crying. But then again, maybe it was just his imagination.
