After a month of the goddess crying in her bedroom, Molly had had it.
"My lady?"
"Y-yes?"
"Permission to speak freely?"
"Yes."
"What on earth is wrong with you? You're a goddess, you have responsibilities! You can't just sit in here crying because of some harm you caused some insignificant mortal!"
"But I loved her, and she didn't love me."
"Why? Because she was afraid of being a mortal in a relationship with a goddess? Because she thought there would be a bad breakup, where you would treat her as utterly insignificant, just as the Greek gods treated their mortal lovers? Tell me, what part of that was wrong?"
"All I did was wipe her memory."
"All you did was wipe her memory" Molly purred, mockingly. "All you did was wipe out memories that might have been precious to her, that helped make her what she is. And steal them from her in a way that she can't even mourn her loss. Look, you can either treat this mortal as the insignificant nit she is, or you can restore what you stole. What you can't do is keep crying over it. You're a goddess now, the sole representative on earth of your entire pantheon until you revive some more gods, which you are not doing. You can strike me dead, you can wipe my memories, you can turn me into a cockroach, but it won't alter the truth of what I'm saying and you know it."
