"Flight 631 from Atlanta you are cleared to land on runway 7. Roger."
"Flight 631 confirms. Runway 7. Roger and out". The pilot extends the landing gear and makes his final approach. "Mr. Wilhelm and party. Please buckle up, were are beginning our decent to Seattle.
Dieter smiled. Looking at Jenny's father clutch the arm rest of the chair, he couldn't help but smirk. How can Jenny be the spawn of this back wood Luddite he wondered. You'd swear he never seen a plane, let alone a leer jet with its own satellite up-link to the internet. Putting down the laptop, Dieter muses to himself, "at least my extracurricular activities keep me and family in the green. Sure dad won that lottery. But running a power plant doesn't keep you in caviar and dope anymore. Fortunately running a gun running cartel over the dark-net does." Looking out the window he can see the ground get closer. Glancing back to Jenny's father making the sign of the cross, he comments "religious crazy as well."
Everyone feels the sudden lurch as the jet finally touches down on the runway. Dieter gets his cellphone to call Mark, yet there is no answer. Mark muses, "Must be on the can, or he finally has eyes on Jenny". He texts Mark "Just landed in Seattle. Make contact asap".
"Did you say something?"
Dieter looks up, and see's Jenny's father just spoke. "Its nothing to be concerned." He deadpans. "Besides we landed. You can stop praying to Jesus to save you from death by plane crash."
The old man is taken aback from that and wants to strike Dieter but doesn't. With a face red as crimson he snipes back. "I'll let that slide just this once. But remember one thing. You may have my daughter's hand in marriage, but that does not mean I won't deck you for making cracks about my personal religious views."
Dieter laughs just as the plane comes to a stop. "You can try like you do with your other children and your wife. But unlike them", as Dieter gets inches from the old man's face sneering "I have no problem in giving you a dose of your own brand of medicine." To prove his point, Dieter launches a vicious hay maker to the old man's face flooring him. "Now get your ass up Fred. The sooner we get to Moon Lake and collect your daughter the faster we can get back to Atlanta for my own Wedding.
Fred's wife quickly tries to help him up, only to get a slap for her troubles. Fred is seething at Dieter but is forced to control his rage for the sake of his families future. He looks at his wife, and realizes she was only trying to help him. Rage disappear in place of shame, Fred helps her up just a Dieter gets off the plane and walks briskly to the limo waiting for them.
"Fred, are you sure you want Jenny to marry that brute? Everything she said about him is true. Can you not see it?"
"Its not as if we have a choice in the matter." Fred looks at her lovingly. "I'm sorry for hitting you. I realize now that violence does not solve anything and all those time I hit you and the children were wrong. Yet after what happened in Dessert Storm with Dieter's father, it's not as if we. No I can say no." Fred just grabs his go bag and follows Dieter with his wife looking on in tears.
Dieter tries calling Mark again yet is still not getting a response. Worried he places a call to a fixer he knows of in Seattle. Giving the man the details and agreeing to the fee he hangs up and enters the limo. Fred and his wife enter shortly and an awkward and silent ride to Dieter's Seattle condo.
