James sat for a while in a strangely comforting pool of mud in his temporary (he hoped) residence and decided what to do next. He knew he had to wait for Kayla no matter how long she was away. He just hoped she would get back before he became desperate enough to eat the crickets she had left for him by way of a meal.
Before long he became bored and decided to leave the terrarium to explore. The door to the trailer was slightly ajar, James noticed, but there was no way he was heading outside. He was sure there were plenty of things outdoors that ate frog and he didn't want to piss Kayla off by looking like he was trying to escape. But if he stayed within the trailer he should be fine, and he may even be able to find some clues as to who this mysterious sorceress was.
James summoned all of his energy and launched himself clean out of his glass home and onto the wooden shelf. Though he had only travelled a few inches, in comparison to his size it had felt like a mighty leap and had actually given him a strange sense of power. He then leaped down onto the chair where the pile of clothes he had been wearing before softened his landing. He took the fact that Kayla had taken them with her as a good sign she was planning to restore him to humanity eventually. He then hopped onto the floor below and was impressed again at the naturally clean landing he made.
Though the trailer was small and cramped it felt like a spacious town centre to James, and for the first time he was able to marvel at how different everything looked from his new perspective. Amidst the dusty books and worthless looking trinkets James did see something that caught his attention. Glittering in the corner of the room was the pendant Kayla had been wearing and hopped optimistically towards it as if he could somehow use it's potential powers to wish himself back to humanity.
It was at that point the door swung open. But it wasn't Kayla's voice that James heard.
"Ok, lets get whatever we can and get out of here quickly. This place creeps me out" the first giant figure ordered as she came into view in the mirror at the back of the room. It was a pretty dark haired girl of about 16, James guessed. She was quite fashionably dressed in an emo kind of way. A second figure, a younger girl of about 12 wearing a cap followed her into the room. From the similar facial features James guessed they were sisters.
"What are we looking for Laura?" the younger girl enquired.
"Anything valuable" Laura answered "But be quick"
James stayed still and hoped the girls left soon, for their sake as much as his. He figured they had no idea they were stealing from a witch.
After a while, the younger girl spotted him.
"Aww, how cute!" before he had time to react the girl had swept James up in her hands and was examining him delightedly "I've always wanted a pet frog I'm keeping it!" James attempted to protest but could only communicate in angry ribbits "haha! I think he likes me! I'm calling him Croaky!"
The older girl spun round "for fucks sake JoJo! Put it down. We didn't come here for a warty little toad"
"Croaky is a frog, and you mustn't be mean about my pet!" JoJo replied to her sisters obvious irritation. But a moment later she saw something that instantly improved her mood.
"Well hello! What have we here?" Laura grinned as she picked up Kayla's pendant as eagerly as her sister had picked up James "this has to be worth something. Now lets get out of here!"
"Ok, come on Croaky! We'll find you some nice bugs to eat!" JoJo promised as she made for the exit with her new friend.
