You were never one to be very popular in school. Sure, you had lots of good friends (maybe even a few best ones), and knew the name of almost everyone in your grade, but, by and large, you were ignored by the "popular" group of kids in your school. Right now, a junior, you've made friends, and lost some, but only one has stuck with you all this time.
Derek Ward and you have gone to school together since kindergarten. And you've been friends with him since day one. You slept over at his house (or he came over to yours) almost every weekend. Now that that's a little childish, you two text each other every night, telling the other about their day. You eat lunch together, have tons of inside jokes, and will probably always be friends.
Even though you and Derek went your separate "clique" ways after middle school was over. He was always good at sports, especially football, and now he's the star quarterback of your team, the Arcadia Tigers. You, however, went for more of a creative standpoint, being in drama and band. You've even managed to land the role of Macduff in your school's production of Macbeth. You two may have separate interests, but having your best friend be the star of the football team definitely has it's perks.
Mainly, access to cheerleaders. You've had a major crush on the head one, Arianna West, since middle school, and with Derek already with his girlfriend, Gwen, he's more than happy to try and hook you up with the cheerleaders.
So imagine your surprise one Friday afternoon, three minutes before the bell is about to ring, when Derek comes striding up to your locker with Gwen, Arianna, and Arianna's best friend Eileen. "Hey, Blair. Guess what? I got you a date with Arianna!" he says happily. Arianna smiles and puts out her hand. "Nice to meet you, Blair. Derek's been telling me what a cool guy you are. I think I want to go on a date." She smiles warmly. You put your (shaking) hand out and say "Of... of course! I would love that!" you mange to stammer out. Shaking still, you put your hand on your locker and take a few breaths.
"Listen, since it's date night for me and Gwen anyway, we thought, why not tonight?" Derek continues. Gwen and Eileen (friends) smile and each other, giggle, and Gwen squeezes Derek's hand. "Your pick. You and Arianna can go alone, Me, you, Arianna and Gwen can go, You, Arianna, and Eileen can go, or all five of us go together." He says. You think for a minute, then say...
