Coach Katherine "Kat" Johnson was anxious for her temporary assistant coach (and hopeful future girlfriend) Martha Anderson to arrive at Moon Lake Junior High. She really wanted to talk to the beautiful werecat about the dream she had concerning them last night, which was why she volunteered for monitor duty that morning at the school bus zone, since it bordered the teacher's parking lot, where Kat could keep an eye out for Martha.
Her heart seemed to actually skip a beat when she spotted Martha's car pull into the parking lot, but was puzzled when she saw three women get out.
Kat was even more confused when she saw who the other two women were.
"Okay hon. I've called the car service. They'll be here to pick me and Samantha up in a couple of minutes," said Frances Twist, as she handed Martha her car keys. "You have a good day at school and if you need anything, just call one of us."
"Yes, mommy," said Martha jokingly, before giving each Twist a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Are you going to be all right?" asked Samantha, looking at her friend, next door neighbor, and sister werecat with some concern.
"As well as I can be, although that dream I had last night..." began Martha, still thinking about a future without her late husband William and wondering just how much of a future she and her impending daughter Wilma would/should have with Kat.
"Remember: one day at a time," said Frances, "and don't forget to call that OB/GYN today for your first appointment. We want both you and Wilma as happy and healthy as can be."
"I will, and thank you both for everything," said Martha with a smile, before the Twists started walking off the school property to meet the ride back to their place to collect their car.
Being a weretigress herself, although no one was displaying their fursonas in public during the day, Kat had seen and heard everything.
I didn't realize Samantha and Frances Twist were the friends and next door neighbors Martha keeps referring to. They're probably also the ones who ushered Martha into were society as well, the lucky stiffs, she thought, a bit jealous. But Martha had some kind of a dream too last night? When the time's right, I have to ask her about it.
"Hi Kat," said Martha with a smile, as she approached the other lady.
"Morning Martha," replied Coach Johnson. "I've got bus monitor duty this morning," she added, stating the obvious and never mentioning why she volunteered for it. "The weather's supposed to be good today, so I was thinking of taking the girls out for a jog each period. We just do laps around the main school building, since there's no formal track set up here."
"Sounds like fun," commented Martha.
"Why don't you go on inside and get the first period class ready. Take attendance too if you don't mind, and I'll be in soon to help get things organized. You'll need a stopwatch and a notepad, because I like to keep the students' time on their performances."
"Sure thing. And Kat..." said Martha, while taking a quick look around to make sure they were alone.
"Yes?" asked Coach Johnson in return.
"Thank you. For everything," said Martha, before giving the lady a quick kiss on the cheek of her own.
With that, Martha Anderson entered the junior high school building and headed for the gym, never seeing the huge smile on Kat's face as she blushed.
