The cougar and the fox, after enjoying some more post-coital bliss, some more information began filtering through their minds. The first thing that came through their minds were their names. The cougar decided that her name would be Clara, while the fox decided that his name would be Robert, or "Bobby" for short.
The next thing they felt was a primitive desire of exploration. This was included with a desire to find others of their kind.
"Are you feeling these urges as well, Clara?" asked the fox.
"Besides the feelings after the great sex we had, Bobby?" asked the cougar. Both of them were surprised that they had known the names they had chosen for themselves.
"If we became like this by drinking the river water, there might have been others who were changed as well." Said Bobby.
"And if they were," realized Clara, "They might not have the ease of mental transition that we had."
"We're going to have to develop some rules that will allow us to live as new creatures, not just feral ones. Said Bobby. What he and Clara came up with was The Ten Edicts of Animalia (they didn't know where the name came from, just that it fit):
1. No changed predator animal shall eat any changed prey animal.
2. No physical harm shall be visited on any changed animal.
3. Mating is not to take place in public, but public shows of affection are allowed.
4. No changed animals shall force their diets on anyone who doesn't want it.
5. Heat and Rut is to be dealt with by members of the same species, for it will inevitably lead to offspring.
6. There will be no prejudice between changed kin on account of their original species.
7. Only unchanged animals can be eaten by changed predators.
8. There will be no marking of territory on the property of others, or any public spaces.
9. Everyone pitches in for the good of the group.
10. Any nocturnal kindred shall not disturb those who are primarily diurnal.
