When the Stovalls and Brian weren’t looking Alyssa slide back into the lake. She quickly swam to the other side of the lake, and looked for Julie. But there was no sign of her anywhere.
“Where could she have run off to? Maybe she went home…?” Alyssa wondered. Alyssa went to collect her clothing and then started back toward the area where she’d left her car. Part of her wondered if she should follow Martin, or go in search of Julie herself. Would finding his daughter earn her a few points with Melissa?
She did look like she was considering taking Alyssa up on her offer. But now they’d never know. But maybe, just maybe, if Alyssa was persistent enough Melissa would eventually give in. And then they could share Martin. The thought got her all hot and bothered again. Alyssa thought it a bit unfair that she hadn’t gotten a chance to sample either Brian or Julie.
“There will be other chances. Moon Lake is the perfect spot to hunt for potential partners.” Alyssa thought. For now, she headed back to her hotel to plan her next move on the Stovalls.

Julie was stomping through the forest with soaking wet clothing. She hadn’t even had the chance to dry off once she exited the lake. Brian grabbed their backpacks, they both threw their clothing on, and ran. Julie hoped Brian was able to get away.
Unfortunately, Julie hadn’t. She could hardly see her own hand in front of her. Mer were pretty much useless outside the water. The one thing Julie envied in other weres was that they were more capable on land. Which is were she lived about 60% of her life.
“Damn it. Should have brought a flashlight.” Julie muttered to herself. She was getting very frustrated. Not just with her lack of outdoor skills. Also with her parents, more specifically her mom. Was she out to get her? Or was her mom just jealous because she had a great sex life and her parents didn’t?
“Only one blemish in my record. But I’ll fix that soon enough.” Julie got a devilish smile on her face as she thought to finishing what she started with Eric. Clearly she hadn’t been able to “do the deed” because she hadn’t heard anything about a new merman in Moon Lake.
“Could Spencer have changed him though? Just to keep me from having him? Ugh, I don’t want to go to be with some fur-covered beast. Well Brian’s got fur, but that’s different. At least he’s meant to go in the water. Wolves are not swimmers, or whatever the hell Spencer is.”
Julie had no idea what kind of were Spencer was. Her scent was so indifferent. Sometimes it smelled very wolfy, other times more like Frieda’s. And that was another thing, Frieda. What was her problem? She said she was on Julie’s side, but the more Julie thought about it, Frieda didn’t seem to be on her side.
Frieda popped up at the most inopportune moments. Granted Julie was glad Frieda had warned her about her mom, but had she not interrupted Eric would be a weremer by now. And just begging to go to bed with Julie (or technically go to pool).

Brian had never felt so uncomfortable in his life. Sitting in the backseat of Martin Stovall’s car. And meanwhile the two Stovalls had put up a stoney wall of silence that wasn’t making matters any less tense. Brian couldn’t even muster up the nerve to tell them that they’d driven past his house a while ago.
He just sat in the backseat, hoping and praying they found Julie soon. Or else he’d be in trouble with his own mother. And though it had been years since she’d done it, Brian really didn’t want to end up on the wrong end of her spanking hand.
