Benton knight was in his study looking at surveillance footage from Moon Lake High. With his considerable contacts in the sheriff’s office and the school janitor who would do anything for a few extra hundred dollars; Benton was able to see for himself that his daughter was telling to truth as to Julie Stovall's attack to both Eric Anderson and his daughter. He also reviewed footage of Julie catching Eric on Monday. It showed Julie Stovall with her hand down Eric’s pants and Eric in some form of distress. Seeing his daughter show up to stop the affair explained the ‘being a witness to an attempted Statue 1A attack’, Benton thinks to himself.
“Perhaps I should give Frieda the benefit of the doubt,” He muses. Going back to his computer he reads up on what information his spies could dig up on the Anderson’s.
“Recently moved here from Minneapolis, Minnesota;’ Benton reads.
“William Anderson is a Professor at Moon Lake College, while the wife Martha is a substitute teacher.” Benton pauses to sip some decaffeinated coffee and reads further.
“Two sons; Nate Anderson (oldest) and Eric Anderson (youngest). Nate Anderson recently became a werewolf. Eric Anderson is a normal. While both William and Martha Anderson are were-foxes.”
Benton blanched at the last statement. Many times he had tried to bully were-foxes only to run afoul with Tachibana and the Skulk. “If the parents are members,” he thinks; “Then the children are honorary members as well.”
“While Eric Anderson is still only a freshman; recent scholastic work shows he is very intelligent and a recent addition to the schools honor role.”
Getting up from his desk to think; Benton contemplates if trying to attack the Anderson’s would be worth the headache in having to deal with any blow-back from the Skulk. Thinking about several business deals that have yet to be finalized; business deals that could not possibly happen without Tachibana’s sign off; Benton decides to wait not wanting to risk a possible fortune in medical futures. He heads back to his desk and opens up the file concerning the Lawson’s.
“Evan and Maggie Lawson; Evan is a navy seal officer with an exceptional military career. Superb marksman and he is a werewolf.” Benton thinks, “Not idea to piss off a solider. Let’s see what else is there.”
“Maggie Lawson; stay at home mom. Were-panther/feline hybrid.” Benton is surprised at that. He thought all were-panthers were exclusively members of his pride. Evan the few that are hybrids. “Perhaps I could use that to my advantage,” he muses. "An invite to the next pride meeting perhaps?"
“Spencer Lawson; Student at moon lake High. She is a werewolf/panther/feline hybrid.” Benton pauses, “that’s rare.”
"It is known that Spencer Lawson and Eric Anderson are a couple.”
Benton closes the files on his computer to think. Spending a few minutes planning possible strategies; Benton call for his chauffer. A short time later John arrives in Benton’s study.
“Did you need to be driven somewhere sir?”
“No,” Benton responds. “You have picked up Frieda from school have you not? Has she been with Eric Anderson and Spencer Lawson?”
“Yes sir,” John replies stiffly. “All three were here yesterday; for a study session.”
“A study session?” Benton looks suspiciously.
“Yes,” John responds “That is what mistress Frieda told me. It was not my place to pry and spy as it were.”
Benton thinks for a moment. “Very well,” Looking at John; “that is all.”
John gives a stiff bow and walks out of Benton’s study. Benton goes back to his computer and replays the school security footage.
Realizing he was not going to be able to glean anything new from the footage; he gets up and walks back to Frieda's room to have another talk with her.
