While in different parts of Moon Lake, Nate and Eric Anderson were basically doing the same thing: having great werewolf sex with the one they loved.
Nate was with his boyfriend Alex Ramsey, while Eric enjoyed the company and lush curves of his girlfriend Cassie O'Sullivan.
But in time, both boys realized it was starting to get late, and they needed to get home to be with their mother.
Reluctantly shedding their fursonas (for now), the Anderson boys got dressed, said good bye to their lovers, and headed off.
Eric was farther away, and came up the wooded trail behind their row of houses. Nate got a later start, but only had to cross the hill between the Ramsey and Anderson residences, so both boys reached their backyard at roughly the same time.
As they neared the back door together, each got a good whiff of the other and instantly realized what they were up to, let alone who they were with.
Nate and Eric simply smiled at each other and entered their house.
"Is that you boys?" called out Martha Anderson.
"Yes," they answered.
"Can you come in here please?"
They honored the request. Coming from the kitchen to the dining room, Nate and Eric saw their mother sitting at the end of the dining room table with all her study guides and notes to get her teaching recertification next Spring. She was now dressed in more casual clothes than what she wore that morning for school, and there was an empty plate and glass near her. They didn't know how long she had been studying this time, but when their mom said, "Please sit down. I need to talk to you," they knew she wouldn't be studying for at least the next few minutes.
"First off, dinner tonight is pot luck. Hope you don't mind," said Martha, to which both sons said okay.
"Now then, if either of you have any plans for Friday night, please cancel them. I'll need you here."
Neither of them had anything officially planned except the obvious (being with their lovers), but Nate was the first to ask why.
"I've invited someone over for dinner Friday night and I'd like for all of you to meet."
That sounded kind of foreboding, so Eric asked who.
"Coach Katherine Johnson, head of the Girls' PE department at Moon Lake Junior High," replied their mom.
"The lady you're working for this week?" asked Eric, which is the only way either of the boys knew the woman.
"Technically, working with, since the school district pays my substitute teacher's salary, but yes. We've been talking, and Kat wants to meet you."
Both boys noted the quick progression from Katherine to Kat. "You've made a friend?" wondered Nate.
"Yes," said Martha, a tad hesitantly. "Kat's getting tired of paying apartment rents, so if things work out, I thought I might take her in as a border. Besides, after Wilma arrives, another pair of female hands around the house might be useful."
The Anderson boys were starting to get worried, for there were few options available for the house to accommodate an extra person without major remodeling. "Where would we put her if things work out?" asked Eric, dreading the announcement that he and Nate would have to start sharing a room again.
"That remains to be seen, but you boys would continue having your own rooms, no matter what happens," answered their mom.
Eric and Nate both released a quick sigh of relief over not having to share a room again, considering what that was like back in Minnesota.
But if they got to keep their rooms, then either their deceased father's first floor study would be converted back into a bedroom, or...
Having just recently come to terms with the fact that their mother was bi even before she became a Moon Lake werecat, neither Nate or Eric were sure how to react to the revelation that their mother was considering inviting her what might be her new lover to live with them.
Yet the potential impact upon their lives and the Anderson household was definitely something they would be discussing in private later that evening, as both boys excused themselves to go raid the fridge.
Thinking all was well and that their conversation went better than she hoped it would, their mother said it was okay, before returning to her studies.
