Mary frantically searched through the box for the vial. It had to be there. She was sure she had seen it earlier.
Outside the door she could hear Jess continue to moan, and her body continue to groan as its transformation progressed. She heard the sound of shattering glass and could only assume that Jess had broken a window.
Great, thought Mary. I will have a hell of a time explaining this to my insurance company.
Mary knew she was running out of time and redoubled her efforts to find it.
"Aha!" Mary said, as she pulled out the 'Human' vial.
Suddenly a large thud shook the entire house, almost causing Mary to drop the vial.
Well, that can't be good. Better not waste any more time, thought Mary, as she ran into the living room.
She was shocked by the sight before her. She had expected a dragon to be big, but this thing was enormous. The creature was resting on its haunches with its chest and belly on the ground. Its upper body stretched across the living room and its rear had grown through one of her walls, knocking it down in the process. The long tail must have been resting in her backyard. The front paws were pressed tightly against the opposite wall, threatening to knock it down. And it was still growing. She watched with fascination as the thigh muscles twitched, then slowly expanded. She had to hurry or Jess would bring her whole house down.
"Jess! Here, you have to drink this!" said Mary holding up the 'Human' vial.
Jess slowly lifted her long neck and turned her head and snout to face Mary. She no longer appeared to be in pain. Instead she had a dazed look on her face, her eyes glazed over. She looked at Mary strangely and it appeared like she was about to say something when the roof suddenly collapsed.
Mary surely would have been crushed had the roof not landed on Jess' large broad back. Jess snarled at the unwelcome burden on her back. She growled as she rose up on the haunches of her still growing body. The roof was not designed to be held this way, and began to crack into small pieces. Jess aided its destruction by shaking and twisting her serpentine back. Jess had a smile on her snout and it almost looked like she was enjoying herself.
Mary cursed as she dodged the debris failing off of Jess' back and tried to make her way out of the house through the hole in the wall. In the confusion, Mary dropped the vial.
Safely outside in the backyard, Mary watched Jess continue to tear apart the roof. She used her long neck to crane her head around to her back so she could grip the small remaining pieces in her snout and toss them away. One of the pieces landed on Mary's car, shattering the front windshield.
"Hey, you big freak! What the hell do you think you are doing!? Stop destroying my property!" yelled Mary angrily.
Mary immediately regretted her words as the large beast slowly walked towards her, and lowered its head down to her level.
