Camelia shakes her head as you and Leona stare on in shock. "Well, I guess so." She says sheepishly. "I've been here a long time. I've undergone so many changes and been here so long I can't remember what I looked like or even what gender I was to begin with." She explains. "But this sitting position seems natural, so I guess I'm female." With that, she rocks back on her heels, clutching her arms around her knees. "But how did you get up on the roof?" you ask is a sympathetic tone.
"Well, I remember I was in this huge room. It looked like the inside of an observatory. I was under this huge dome, and the dome was painted with stars and moons and planets and every other outer space feature imaginable. There were many tables covering the floor, with books and papers and parchment scrolls covering all of them. There was a stairway, too, somewhere in front of me. I heard this loud crash, and I turned and saw this huge thing with red eyes come bursting in from the door.... I don't really remember what it looked like because I took one look and ran. I ran up the stairs into the storm, and waited for it to go away. But then I turned to go back in and it was locked. I tried breaking the glass, but it wouldn't even crack. So I just laid down under the overhang and waited for the storm to stop. I was so cold and tired. If you wouldn't've come, I would've probably froze to death out there." And she smiles at you.
"Uhhh... Camelia, will you give us a second?" you ask. You walk over to the corner and beckon Leona over with your finger. She looks at you quizzically but gets up and pads over. You lean over and whisper in her ear, "What do you think of her? Can we trust her?" Leona looks over her shoulder at Camelia, who is petting Cain while he yips happily and pants. "Well, she certainly does seem trustworthy. I mean, she was dying out there, for god's sake!" Leona whispers back. "Yeah, but nearly dying doesn't make you a saint." You whisper. Looking back at Camelia, you wonder who she was originally and how she got to this castle. You got here by being blown by winds. But given the limited info Leona has given you, you don't know how anything not winged got here. And you still don't know how time works in the place. Does it work normally? Or does nothing age here naturally? You look over at Cain and smile. You look at Camelia and realize there's no way to tell how old she is. "Well...I think we can trust her. Tell her your theory." Leona says.
Nodding, you two walk back over and sit down in front of Camelia and Cain. "Listen, Camelia, I've been in here for only about three hours and I've seen enough things to come up with a theory." She leans in close as you put your hands over Cain's ears again and explain the whole thing, once again, leaving the part about the griffin out. Her eyes goes from apathetic to worried to wide-eyed horror. As you finish, she nods. "Yeah. That makes sense. You know, I remember something from earlier. Maybe... a few house ago? I was walking through this long hallway when I heard this creaking noise. I looked up and saw this door-sized portion of the wall swing out and a normal-looking guy in a lab coat walk out. He had his head down and he was writing something on a clipboard. He was muttering something, too. 'Griffin... eating others... not good, not good. I'll have to call Lauren about that....' that's when he looked up and saw me. His eyes got wide and he turned and ran down the end of the hallway around the corner. I gave chase, but when I turned the corner, he was gone."
Suddenly, Camelia stands up, getting wide-eyed. "Wait... that makes sense... I saw a few other things too..." She turns and starts walking towards the room's door. "C'mon, I've got something to show y..." she starts to say. But then she steps on a medium-sized red carpet near the left wall... and falls right through it. You and Leona scream in shock and race over to the square-shaped hole where the rug and Camelia was only moments ago. You look down and only see inky blackness and Camelia's screams growing fainter and fainter. Soon, you can't hear them at all. You slide down the wall next to the trap and hang your head in your hands. "We were so close... she could have told us something..."
Suddenly, Leona is hustling you to your feet. "C'mon, we can't just sit here and mope! We need to go find her!" And before you can even protest, Leona is removing the mattress from the room's door and looking at you eagerly. She removes it and runs through, disappearing into the hallway, followed by a yipping happily Cain a few moments later. Panting, you snatch up the transformative sword and the bag of food and run out of the room to follow your friends.
