Karen drove her own car down the local Wendys that was in Moon Lake. She didn't often drive, as coming up from California, she didn't have too many friends up in the area to come visit and so far, Peter had come to her when she and he had had their dates. But she did want to meet up with Jenny in time for lunch. She dressed and rushed across Moon Lake, and not knowing about things going on outside Moon Lake, Karen was quite pleased to find Jenny and Harry waiting for her outside the fast food restaurant.
"Hey! How's it going?" Karen asked and gave Jenny a quick hug.
"Things are actually going good," Jenny gave a smile, "the guy that came to the dorm looking for me has been dealt with and Harry and I have things in motion so that we may happily become Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jenkins."
Karen gave Harry a quick hug to match the one she gave Jenny, "Well that's great. I'd love to hear all about it, but I would like to get something to eat first. Is that okay?"
"It's fine," Harry told her.
"And I'm sorry if I woke you up," Jenny added, remembering what they had talked about on the phone.
"It's okay," Karen commented, "I probably needed to get up anyway... it was just... I was having a VERY happy dream."
"You and the werelion you've been seeing?" Jenny asked.
"He's made me very happy," Karen shrugged, "but that can wait for the moment. You said on the phone that we're to discuss the plans for your wedding."
Jenny nodded and they quietly walked into the restaurant and waited in line to order. There were a few others present who were likely from out of town, but just because Moon Lake wasn't on many maps doesn't mean that people didn't occasionally stumble onto it on their way to Seattle. They eventually got their orders and settled into a booth where they look out one of the windows near them.
"So... how goes your wedding plans?" Karen asked as she took a bite out of her burger.
"Pretty good," Jenny smiled, "we met one of our den leaders and she apparently works with regard to planning wedding."
"That's great," Karen smiled, "but... den leader?"
"The Skulk is a singular institution for the town's werefox population, but since it is a singular entity unlike the werecat prides and werewolf packs, it needs some internal organization that makes things easier to work within the system," Harry explained, "so the Skulk is divided into various units called dens."
"And one of our den leaders is working to plan the wedding," Jenny added.
Karen nodded, "well... you know I agreed to be the Maid of Honor, you can count on me for whatever you need."
"That's good," Jenny said before sipping her soda, "it may mean a bit of work... as there will be two ceremonies. One early and one later, to make sure that the actual ceremony isn't ruined by my parents."
"Makes sense, from what you've told me," Karen commented, "Do you have any specific times yet?"
"Not yet, our planner will have to talk with the minister at the local Baptist church to set those things in order," Harry explained, "but once she has that worked out, she is supposed to contact all the members of the bridal party and even those on the guest list."
"You have my number," Karen said to Jenny.
Jenny nodded, "Yes, and that's why I'd wished to speak with you. If you get a call from a Keiko Tachibana, THAT is the wedding planner and you'll need to take the call."
Karen nodded and nibbled on a few fries. After a few moments she remembered the agreement she'd reached with Peter and his father regarding security for the wedding.
"I'll be there," Karen promised, "but I believe I have some good updates for you."
Jenny and Harry both traded looks with a bit of surprise. Neither expected to have Karen give them good news regarding planning for the wedding.
"What is it?" Jenny asked after a moment.
"The werelion I've been seeing, Peter Talbot, is fairly big within werelion society," Karen began.
"Talbot..." Harry said slowly, "the lion prince?!"
Karen nodded, "and after all that's been said about this Wilhelm guy, I figured you could get all the security you could get. And since male lions protect their pride's territories... I figured that that if you had some help from the werelions, maybe this Wilhelm guy will be at least intimidated enough not to cause any real trouble."
Harry and Jenny looked to each other again. Jenny hoped to see some recognition from Harry since she wasn't that familiar with all of Moon Lake's were communities. Having grown up in Moon Lake, Harry would have to know something about the werelions and how their community in Moon Lake was organized. Harry, however, was silent. He knew that Peter Talbot played a role as the heir apparent for leadership for the werelions as a whole. It wasn't quite as authoritative as Akane Tachibana's position as the Skulk's leader, but it was still important. The werelions, to his knowledge, also tended to keep their decisions among themselves and that non-werelions could only ask with no guarantee of support.
"And the Talbots accepted the request?" Harry asked.
"Peter and some of his family have agreed to provide some support should the Skulk wish it," Karen answered, "I'd thought you'd welcome that."
"I do... but it's a bit unexpected," Harry commented.
"Well... I have been dating Peter... and while I didn't ask for it because of that, I'm privately sure that it did play a role in it," Karen answered, "and even with all that... it IS the right thing to do."
"That it is," Jenny agreed.
