The next morning, Oliver was woken up by the warmth of the sun shining directly on his bare body. Even though it was the hottest day of the year, the feeling of the open air on his fur was so relaxing that he didn't notice. He yawned and stretched his arms, legs and toes, got on his feet and took a deep breath. In his new form, it only took him a few seconds to be ready for the day! Actually, he realized that wasn't true. He still needed breakfast before he could do anything useful.
When he stepped inside the house, Oliver noticed his dad talking to someone on a white banana. He had a fuzzy memory of what it was used for, but it was fading out quickly, just like a dream. And besides, there were more important things to think about now. Like the huge plate of food on the table just for him! There were scrambled eggs, toast and jam, a fruit salad, and some orange juice on the side. Oliver didn't hesitate, snatching the food in his hairy hands and wolfing it down. Even the cup was becoming strange to him, as he didn't quite get all of the juice into his mouth, instead spilling some on his chest. He barely even noticed it.
Just before he could walk out the door, his mom caught his attention. "Dear, where are you going?"
"Outside! I want to get some exercise!"
"I'm afraid you'll have to wait on that. They want to see you at school, just one last time."
"Oh yeah." He tried to remember what school was. It was fuzzy, but he guessed it was a rather dull place where he had to sit down all day; but all his friends were there, so it wasn't a total loss. He could survive one more day, at least!
Being on the school bus was a strange experience. None of the other students had changed so drastically on that particular day; most students were still wearing clothing, or at least those who hadn't transformed very much. Oliver crawled to the back of the bus on his four feet and joined the other monkeys in the back seat. "How's it goin', Oliver?" asked Samson.
"Not bad, dude. I got rid of all my human stuff."
"Cool! You must be further along than any of us now!"
"My parents even let me pee anywhere I please now. It feels so relaxing."
Samson raised an eyebrow. "Wow. They let us do that now?"
Oliver shrugged and gave a mischievous grin. "There's no better way to do it."
At school, the teachers were all waiting outside in the parking lot instead of inside the building. Oliver didn't remember much, but he had a feeling that wasn't what usually happened. He decided not to worry about it and followed the other students outside to meet with a group of teachers. The principal had a notepad in his hand, and he was standing in front of the children to speak. "Greetings, everyone. It has come to my attention that some of our students have become, well, too wild to benefit from an education. This is inevitable; as you continue to transform, you will all forget certain unimportant skills as reading, math, complex logic, even your basic toilet training. So it would be no use to keep going to school. Instead, you'll be free to go wherever you please, having no responsibility whatsoever!" This was met by the loudest cheer Oliver had ever seen.
"There is one request I have for all of you. Everyone here should leave their clothing and any possessions they're carrying behind. It's still important to be prepared for the future, so you all should get accustomed to life without them. And yes, that goes for you who still look human, too! It's important to be prepared early on." Some of the students were hesitant about this, but overall there was a positive reaction. "Once you've done that, you're all dismissed!"
