As Mary was closing the closet doors, a tingling sensation raced up her spine. Goosebumps covered her body, lifting the short fuzz she'd grown since first trying the dog vial. She rubbed her stubby, padded hands over her furry arms, turning to look in the full length mirror beside the closet door. Her now-auburn hair appeared to have shortened some more, and as she watched it retracted further even as the matching fur on her long ears thickened. It almost looked like she was wearing her hair in two bushy, curly pigtails on the sides on her head.
Her nose had darkened and roughened, now very noticeable and growing more prominent by the second as Mary watched her jaw lengthen and push outward. Her eyes darkened to an amber-brown as her eyebrows lightened and thickened. Auburn fur spread outward from her hairline and eyebrows, rapidly covering her now-canine head.
"Wow!" she tried to gasp, her muzzle opening to reveal a mouth full of gleaming, pointy teeth. What emerged sounded more like "wrrraowr!" and Mary raised a stunted hand to rub at her throat. Feeling some changes there as well, Mary closed her mouth and lifted her muzzle, watching as the fur thickened and spread down her neck and under her collar, covering the rest of her body in seconds.
Taking in her entire appearance, Mary was amused to find her mostly-human fur-covered body topped by a dog's head. "I look like that cartoon dog Lady from Lady and the Tramp! What was she? A... cocker spaniel!" she thought to herself. "I wonder how the vial chooses what type of dog you become?"
Her thoughts were soon distracted as she noticed something waving slightly behind her reflection. Twisting her torso, Mary gave an excited Yip! to see her tail had grown out, longer fur feathering down from it's length. She reached to grasp it, only to find that her hands had changed further as well, her fingers shortening and her thumb having almost disappeared. She could no-longer curl her paws like a fist, making it impossible to grab and hold things. Mary stared down at her new extremities, marveling at the power of the vials.
The sudden sound of loud footsteps had Mary abandoning the mirror and racing from her bedroom, several shark BARKS escaping before she could help herself. It had sounded like someone was in her apartment, but no intruder could be found. The tromping sounded again, along with a voice that mumbled something in low tones. Mary realized that she was hearing people walking down the corridor outside her apartment - her hearing must be amplified because of the changes!
Sitting back on her haunches, she looked down at herself, suddenly shocked to realized that she'd been running on all-fours! Her hind legs were much shorted than they'd been minutes before, and she was sitting on the floor comfortably as a dog would! She could see that her fur had grown longer on her chest and under her arms and legs, while her breasts had receded into her torso.
She noticed too that the furniture all seemed larger than a moment before - when she sat down her head had been level with the back of her overstuffed couch, but now she could barely see onto the seat! "Well, cocker spaniels are rather small, I guess" she consoled herself.
