“Is the tumor malignant or benign,” Frances looking at her brother; putting her fork down she runs through her head of the possibility of her mother having to possibly undergo a full hysterectomy.
“Benign as far as I know,” Samson answering; “At least that is what dad told me,” Samson lowering his eyes.
“What are you not telling me brother,” Frances looking concerned.
“I just came from the hospital visiting mom,” Samson states; “apparently mom and dad only decided to tell me after spending months getting tests and assorted treatments done.”
Frances gets up; not even bothering to finish her poutine; she heads to her car with Samson chasing after her.
“Wait sis,” Samson shouting; “wait!”
“For what,” Frances shouting back at him; “For mom to die and dad to tell me I’m not welcomed to attend the funeral? I’m heading over there.”
“It’s not that sis,” Samson hold her; “They’re prepping mom for surgery at this moment. You won’t be able to see her just yet.”
“So they are performing a hysterectomy,” Frances looking tearful.
“What is that,” Samson doing his best to dry Frances’s tears.
“An operation where a woman’s reproductive organs are removed when all other treatment options are unavailable;“ Frances answering, recalling her pre-med classes. “You said they spent months getting treatments done. Obviously they didn’t take.”
“I’ll drive;” Samson guiding Frances to her car and taking her keys. Knowing his sister is not in any fit shape at the moment he starts up her car and drives them both to the hospital. Working the hands free device Frances had set up he calls up France’s office.
“Doctor Frances Twist’s office. Rudy speaking how may I help you.”
“Rudy this is Samson. France’s brother.”
“Oh I’m sorry but your sister is gone for lunch, would you like to take a message?”
“Rudy,” Frances chiming in; “I’m on my way to the hospital. I need you to call up my patients for the afternoon and reschedule them. It’s a family emergency I’m dealing with.” Before Rudy could answer, Frances quickly disconnects the call.

Alyssa Cooper was sitting on the musty sofa in her cousin’s cabin; looking at some work related emails. While she was still on vacation for another week; Alyssa couldn't completely shut herself out from the construction firm she worked for in California. Before she could put her phone down; the front door to the cabin is busted open and Alyssa sees her Cousin Sheriff Copper staring at her shifting into his ursine form.
With his police uniform shredded as Douglas Cooper shifted into is were-grizzly form he snarls and growls at Alyssa. Clearly angry as he stares at her; teeth bared and the claws on his bear like paws tensed, ready to strike and rend flesh. He slowly approaches Alyssa who is already up and trying to back away.
“Now wait a minute cousin;” Alyssa looking fearful slowing looking for a way out. Clearly no match for the angry were-grizzly standing before her; “don’t do anything you’ll regret.”
“I warned you Alyssa,” Douglas Cooper growling in a deep guttural voice; “Leave town. But you wouldn’t listen. Now I hear from Brian Walker that you want to have him declare Martin Stovall dead as payment for setting him up as a gigolo?” Sheriff Cooper shouts at the end; “Pimping him out to a friend of yours in Seattle? There are limits to what our town’s laws will let you get away with!” Sheriff Douglas Cooper slashes the couch between him and his cousin; splitting it in half and he kicks one half out of the way, blocking Alyssa's escape out the back door.
“Oh fuck,” Alyssa utters; knowing that the young were-otter just ratted her out, she scrambles to come up with an excuse; "Cousin I can explain.”
“Bull shit,” Douglas snapping at her; now several feet from Alyssa, Douglas cooper quickly closes the distance cornering his cousin. Despite his bulkiness in his fursona; Sheriff Cooper was quite athletic. With his muzzle inches from his terrified cousin’s face, he lets off a low growl as he can smell Alyssa losing control of her bladder. “Fortunately for you,” Douglas Cooper slowly pulling back; “you smell like tuna and not like salmon. I hate the taste and smell of Tuna.”
Alyssa breathing hard just passes out as her cousin pulls back. Douglas Cooper looking at her cousin unconscious and on the floor in her own urine; he gently picks her up, taking care not to hurt her with his razor sharp bear claws. He takes her to the shower to clean her up. Not even bothering to remove Alyssa’s clothes he turns on the shower and lets the cold water rinse the wer-mer off and wake her up.
Sheriff Cooper then heads to his police cruiser to grab his spare uniform; Shifting back to his human form; he quickly gets dressed and heads back inside to make coffee and wait for Alyssa to regain consciousness and come out of the shower.
