Frances Twist had a delicious brunch with her wife Samantha, after they cleaned up from their brief tryst in the Town Chancellor's office.
One Mrs. Twist wanted nothing more than to curl up in the other Mrs. Twist's arms and just stay there, loved and comforted for the rest of her prolonged were-life, but Frances knew that wasn't physically possible.
"Besides, there's always tonight," she purred in Samantha's ear, before they reluctantly parted company.
MEANWHILE...
Martha Anderson spent another morning as a temporary substitute gym teacher/assistant coach at Moon Lake Junior High. While she didn't get to do much actual exercise, Martha couldn't deny the potential "fringe benefits" of the assignment as she stared at Coach Katherine "Kat" Johnson, her new friend and potential lover.
Although the two women had done nothing more physical than kiss (for now) they were starting to grow close, even sitting next to each other at lunch. They kept talking every chance they got and were seriously getting to know each other better.
As the latest Girls' PE class ended, Martha looked at Kat and asked, "Are you sure you don't want me to jog with the next group?"
"I know exercise is good for you, and pregnant women need to keep in shape too, but the rules also say that we have to keep an eye on students during outdoor activities so none of them get the bright idea to try to skip out on us," answered Kat. "Not that I want to think that any of my students would even think of doing so, but I can't deny the possibility either. Especially not the closer we get to the last class of the day. Someone might try to give themselves an early dismissal, so that's why one of us stays with them while the other keeps time."
"To also keep a head count," realized Martha.
"Yep. Now, while we're waiting for the next class, are you sure things are okay with me meeting your sons tomorrow night, let alone our private dinner Saturday night?" asked Kat, while siding up next to her.
"So far. Nate and Eric seem a little skittish about you being a potential border," admitted Martha, "but don't mind meeting you during dinner tomorrow night."
"Well, moving in might be a bit of a problem on my end. My current apartment lease isn't up until March of next year, but I will contribute both financially as well as emotionally and physically to our joint household," she promised.
"Truthfully? I think it's more about not being sure how they're going to react to you moving into their father's old study," confessed Martha, thinking about her late husband's private space, "although I do hope you relocate into my bedroom eventually."
"We're not moving too fast, are we?" asked Kat with some concern. "My feelings for you are genuine, and growing," she said, taking Martha's hand in hers. "If I could..."
"I'll admit this has been a whirlwind year for me," confessed Martha. "Finding out my husband was cheating on me. Moving to Moon Lake in hope of a fresh start for all of us. Becoming weres. William dying defending me against that damn rogue..."*
"I know honey," said Kat, moving closer to hold Martha.
"But then there's us," said Martha, looking up at the slightly taller woman with a smile on her face. "I didn't expect to be pregnant with William's last child, let alone to fall in love again so soon after his death. Yet between you and Wilma, the future's starting to look much brighter than I thought it would."*
"Falling in love?" asked Kat, staring deeply into Martha's eyes.
"Yes. There's no denying that our potential relationship is and will be different from what William and I had, but it is something I want to explore to its fullest."
"Me too," replied Kat, as she leaned in to kiss Martha.
But before their lips could touch, there was a knock on the front door of the coaches' office.
Thinking it was one of her students reporting that the next class was ready for gym, Kat answered the door, but was surprised to see another adult female standing there with a school guard. Kat also saw there was an official School Visitor's Pass pinned to the lapel of her business jacket as the other woman said, "Hello. I'm Doctor Frances Twist. Is Martha Anderson here?"
