{{FRIENDLY REMINDER: The TAD thread is still currently running ahead of the main Moon Lake story right now.—tmw.}}
"Is that sales clerk one of our agents?" asked the passenger in the car following Tom Herald, as he pulled the long range listening device back inside.
"Not that I know of. Then again, the Luna Brotherhood goes to great lengths to compartmentalize everything so that if any of us are captured, we cannot reveal much to our enemies," explained the driver, as they waited for the reporter to come back out and resume his travels. "Then again, if he does keep the date this weekend, we will not have to worry about keeping the reporter out of Moon Lake and nosing around during the Harper-Jenkins wedding."
"True, but why the Brotherhood just doesn't send someone to Alabama to deal with the woman's family and that Dieter Wilhelm is beyond me."
"Because we kill only out of necessity," said the driver. "Unless they come to Moon Lake in hopes of stopping the wedding and discover weres exist, then it is just a private family matter and none of our business. Don't worry. One of our agents will be at the church and report on events there."
"But this reporter we were ordered to follow, and through him, us, are no closer to discovering who killed Lionel Ulysses than we were when this Herald started investigating," pointed out the passenger.
"True, but in the hunt, one must also have patience when bagging an elusive quarry," the driver reminded his partner.
"Yes, my beta."
"As one of, if not the oldest of were species, the werewolves of the Luna Brotherhood have been protecting all weres from threats both internal and external almost from the dawn of time," said the driver. "While there is no denying that Lionel Ulysses needed to be executed for risking the exposure of were society during his arrest by the authorities, we would have handled the matter much more discretely. Whether or not it was this mysterious Dymixious or someone else who murdered Ulysses, they will have to be executed as well once we confirm their identity and guilt, for further risking were exposure to the normals!"
"What if it was a regular human who killed Ulysses? I read in the paper the police suspect it was someone in the employ of either a rival gang or whoever this 'Rat Pack' was working for that did the job," said the passenger.
"A were is dead and our kind is at risk. Even if the killer was truly unaware that weres exist matters not. When the time comes, we will do what we must to protect our own," said the driver as he started the car, for Tom Herald had just come out of the costume shop with a very happy smile on his face as he headed back to his own vehicle.
