Jen's Tuesday was rather busy and involved a fair amount of running around town to pick up the necessary applications and handle them. Some of the positions she had found, such as the position with the Wells Fargo bank that was in Moon Lake, were positions that she could apply for online, which she did. Even the position at Tachibana Industries had an online application, which she filled out. But there were others that required some paper applications to be filled out. These included the potential opening at the Moon Lake hospital/clinic and the aid at the town's museum, which made some sense to Jen. The online applications were for companies and businesses that either came from outside Moon Lake or had offices outside of Moon Lake even Moon Lake was where their "corporate headquarters" was. The rest would be dealing more directly with Moon Lake's were population in some way shape or form, which would mean that there could be sections that would deal with Jen's "familiarity" with Moon Lake.
As she drove along toward the hospital, figuring to fill out the application for a the nursing opening for Doctor Goodwinn first, she flicked on the car radio, hoping to get a few old classic rock tunes in before she arrived. That wasn't what she got though.
"We're continuing our coverage, for those just tuning in, to the fallout from the FBI's sting operation that took down the "Rat Pack" this previous weekend," a radio reporter announced as soon as Jen tuned into the radio, "As we've admitted before, cases like this wouldn't normally travel this hard for so long, but some oddities in the case have lead to some confusion and even paranoia for some people."
Jen rolled her eyes at that, thinking that the comment was pretty much an understatement. Lionel Ulysses transformed reflexively after being shot by either the police or the FBI and it was caught on camera. That would be bound to attract attention.
"Now, the FBI and Seattle Police are certain that the tail was a costume piece and we've heard some reports that a costume tail HAS been found, and most media coverage has accepted that... though some seem to be a bit more skeptical than others," the radio announcer continued, "but the incident, at least within the Pacific Northwest area has generated other commentary that go into the truly bizarre..."
"The internet," Jen sighed.
"A few blogs and and conspiracy theorists on the internet have used the footage to make the claim that Lionel Ulysses wasn't human with theories on what he was ranging from some type of were-creature from old folklore tales to an alien species here to colonize Earth," the radio reporter continued, "and while these theories don't have the most evidence... they are serving to keep at least some interest in the story."
Jen shook her head. Some things were just destined to be weird, even for Moon Lake. Now, of course, to the people of Moon Lake these conspiracy theories on the internet might only generate a few more fears, as Moon Lake knew the truth that those sorts of accusations would have a great deal of accuracy to them, but the fact that they weren't on any serious media websites would mean that they would remain out there on the internet and little real importance. Jen considered that to be a blessing, but didn't have much time to ponder things more as she arrived at the hospital
Jen parked her car and then slowly made her way toward the building. However, instead of going into the main entryway, Jen went along to a side door that was on the north end of the building. The section branched off from the rest of the building with a glass door with "Moon Lake Hospital: Personnel Office" written in gold lettering across its front. Jen quietly went through the door and entered a relatively small office type space inside it. There was then a main desk which a lone woman was seated behind, and as Jen approached she caught the scent of wereowl and soon recognized the face. After a few moments, she looked up and Jen noticed a look of recognition go over the woman's face.
"Jen! I can't believe it! I haven't seen you since college," the woman said with a smile and got up from her seat to reach out to shake Jen's hand.
"Hey, Kim, how are you?" Jen asked to the woman, Kimberly Tate, a wereowl and daughter of the head librarian at Moon Lake's public library.
"I'm good and working here in the personnel offices for the hospital," Kimberly answered, "what are you up to?"
"Recently moved back... after... after Lionel Ulysses killed..." Jen said slowly. She paused for a moment and collected herself, "after he killed Jeff, my husband."
"I'm sorry," Kimberly said almost automatically, honestly unsure of what to say to comfort her former high school and college friend.
"It's okay," Jen gave a small smile, "the rat is dead and my son is safe."
"Well... that's good," Kimberly smiled, "so, what brings you here? If you're feeling ill, I can escort you to the main desk..."
"Actually, I'm here to apply for the aide position to Dr. Goodwinn," Jen answered as she held up the newspaper clipping, "I took some online courses and earned all the credits for a nurse's licence and wish to pick up an application."
"You want to come work here?" Kimberly spoke in surprise.
"I can't live on Jeff's pension forever," Jen replied.
"I see," Kimberly commented and pivoted on her chair and then opened a filing cabinet behind her. Kimberly collected some papers and handed them out. "Well, it'll be nice to have you around, though our office will also coordinate with the doctors as well."
"That'll be fine," Jen replied as she collected the application, "Will you want me to fill it out here, or bring it back?"
"You can fill it out here if you have transcript copies, your resume, and at least the promise that you can get three written letters of recommendation, either personal or professional mailed to us here," Kimberly answered.
"I see... well... I may have to make some calls for the letters, but I can get the rest filled out and give you copies of the others," Jen said as she picked up a clipboard from the edge of the counter between her and Kimberly and then moved to one of the chairs in the Personnel Office's from office area and began to fill out the application.
