"To hell with them," you say. "I want food. My health is more important, after all."
Rachel smirks and nods, and the three of you head out towards the mess hall. Halfway there, you're caught. The 25 (at most) year old sees you and shouts for all three to stop. In a heartbeat she comes up to you and shouts at you to get back in your cabin.
"I'm hungry, and I need food," you growl at her.
"You'll be fed," she says sharply. "But first we need to go over some safety issues you need to relearn. We have nighttime hikes. There was no reason to go off alone."
"We can talk after dinner," you say without thinking. Where does this whelp get off barking at her?
Her mood darkens. "You will-" A scream cuts her off.
Looking towards the woods, you see a young female wolf standing at the tree line. Several of the girls nearby yell and run off while two more actually stand there grinning at it. The young wolf was staring at you. "What the...," you start before suddenly the animal bounds into the campsite. For a moment, you hear a loud bark from the woods, an irate warning being directed at the young thing.
It either didn't hear or didn't care. It runs up to you, causing the other three girls to back off a bit. As soon as its in front of you, it sits down on its hind legs, staring up at you expectantly with what almost looks like a smile on its face. From its scent you can tell it's the same one that rubbed up against you last night. However, what is in front of you looks like a pure wolf with a beautiful solid white coat.
"Cynthia," said the counselor. "Don't move. Just be calm and..."
You kneel down next to it, lowering your head to its. You smile and hold out your hand to let it take in your scent. "Hello, little one."
It takes two quick sniffs, and suddenly the wolf gets back up onto four legs, bounds around a little, and yips happily. You can't help but laugh.
Several other girls slowly approach the wolf in fascination at the wild creature, which turned its attention to the counselor. The wolf started to stare at her in curiosity. From a few minor whines, you can tell that the little one was trying to remember something.
To the side, Tina blinks in wonder. Rachel, however, looks on in dismay. "Oh no...."
The counselor's eyes suddenly started to tear up. "Becky?"
