Ever since Julia and Thomas were changed, they were full of energy. Granted, one wouldn't expect a well-built anthro husky to be lethargic, but they were more active for their age. Of course, they weren't quite the same age now. The second dose of the Animalia Virus restored their bodies to their physical prime. It didn't seem like much of a change between doses from the outside, but their vitality was on a completely new scale. While they could still continue their jobs despite their change of species, they soon found themselves getting more restless. What they needed was an outing where they could really let themselves loose. What they needed was another honeymoon. And there was one place that would be perfect.
"You're going all the way up to Alaska?" asked Sarah in slight disbelief. Her friends have made jokes about Siberian Huskies and Alaska, but she didn't think her parents would be getting in on it.
"Yes, and before you ask, we're not going to Nome," said Julia, "Animalia may be on nationwide news, but we're not welcome in big cities yet. Too many possibilities of infecting people there."
"We're going up to Fairbanks," said Thomas.
"What's at Fairbanks?" asked Mary Alice, or Malice as she preferred.
"Parks for hiking, fascinating museums, and the Chena Hot Springs are not too far from there," said Thomas.
"Uh, isn't a Fairbanks a big city too?" asked Sarah.
Julia and Thomas exchanged glances before Julia said, "We'll be spending most of our time outside the city. We'll be certain to be following the right protocols to keep the virus in us from getting into anything else."
"What about the hot springs?" asked Malice.
"The water is hot enough to kill any virus," said Thomas, "Don't worry. We won't be starting a second Animalia up there."
"And how will you be getting there?" asked Sarah.
"Private plane. Turns out some uplifted birds are just as good as flying a plane as using their own wings," said Julia, "Now then, enough about us, we need to lay the ground rules for you two while we're gone."
"For starters, no overage anything," said Thomas, "That means no smoking, drinking, or going into R-rated movies."
"And no boys over here," said Julia.
Both Sarah and Malice protested at that. "That's not fair!" snapped Malice.
"Abby and Samson can spend all the time they want with each other," protested Sarah.
"Abby and Samson are both horses," pointed out Julia.
"So you're saying we need to infect someone to have them come over?" asked Malice with a wolfish grin.
"Mary Alice, don't you dare," said Julia.
"Julia, they're both double-dosed, you know they have adult urges," said Thomas.
"I know, but I don't want my girls filled with pups when I get back," said Julia.
"We can take the same contraceptives that you guys use," said Malice before pausing and asking, "You are using contraceptives, right?"
"Wha- Of course we are," said Julia, looking rather flustered at that.
"Another rule: you can have a party here, but nothing wild," said Thomas.
"I don't know, Dad," said Sarah with a grin, "We are party animals after all."
"Funny," said Thomas, "But seriously, I don't want this place a mess when we get back. I want adult supervision at that party, call Mr. Williams."
"Darn, I was planning on doing a mating frenzy," said Malice in a sarcastic tone.
"And I expect to meet every boy that you're even considering trying to date," said Julia, "So don't think you can have a secret boyfriend. I WILL smell him."
Sarah sighed and said, "You can trust me to be the responsible one. You guys go have a fun time. If you happen to see Bigfoot, don't try to infect him."
"Bigfoot isn't real," said Thomas.
"We're a family of humanoid dogs. I don't think Bigfoot would look that farfetched in comparison," said Sarah.
"We're a completely different... Oh, I don't have time for this," said Thomas, "We need to start packing." Sarah wasn't going to bother with continuing the argument. It didn't really matter since her parents were going to be on vacation for a week. It's gonna take them a few days to get ready, but after that, she and Malice will have the house to themselves.
