MOON LAKE... Andersons, Interlude: Warnings of Watchmen...

added by s1 6 years ago O

In one of the smaller side offices of the Moon Lake Police Department Office, Yamato sat quietly with the cellphone that had been taken from the previous agent that Dieter Wilhelm had likely sent to Moon Lake after his death. Chief O'Hara was presently visiting with him over the specific plans for the issues relating to the wedding and the potential crisis with the Harper family. It wasn't an easy issue as there was always something to be concerned with and Chief O'Hara couldn't commit everything to one issue.

As far as they knew that agent was only a John Doe as anything that might have identified him wasn't on his body and wasn't even at his campsite that the Skulk's security services had cleaned up. They figured that the man had to have left it wherever he had been when he acquired the vehicle at his campsite, which had Oregon plates. However, with their suspect dead they had no way of proving where the man acquired it. Chief O'Hara stated about all they could do was to remove the items they could fingerprint as their suspect's and then return the vehicle to Oregon and the specific police department that the vehicle was registered to.

"What does "sit rep" mean?" Chief O'Hara asked

"He's likely waiting for info on where he wants to meet our presently dead John Doe," Yamato answered and looked to the phone before taking it in his hands. He sighed heavily, as he was well aware that what he was doing could very easily be taken as fraud there wasn't much that could used to justify the action in a court of law, as the only "proof" they had that either man was connected to Dieter Wilhelm was the fact that the first went to Jenny's dorm room and the second agent talked about helping the first agent with the "boss's problem." However, while that could prove difficult, as while it was a sign of a threat, there was nothing in it that concretely said who was that threat outside of Jennifer Harper's own fears.

"You're sure this plan will work?" Chief O'Hara asked as he looked to Yamato as he looked at the cellphone that he held.

"It will," Yamato nodded, "he'll either spook and leave for fear that we have something that he could be arrested on or will be spooked enough that he'll either mistake into a crime you can arrest him on or will escalate his tactics which our security forces, your police, or the college's security forces can catch him before he carries anything out."

"You'd need to sell it as something that was by chance noticed," Chief O'Hara warned, "there is a lot of this that skirts on the edge of what would be legal. If he can prove or suspects that we've been following him without concrete evidence to justify it... which we don't have... he is set free and WE are arrested."

Yamato nodded. They were on a very slippery slope, but the Skulk was honor bound to make up for Yvette Smith's actions in forcing William Anderson and Jennifer Harper into were society. With the Andersons there wasn't too many ideas, though from the interactions they'd had with William and Martha Anderson, it seemed more that the married and bonded pair wished to be welcome in their new hometown and beyond being welcoming there wasn't that much they could do at the moment. With Jennifer Harper, however, they had her wedding to protect and put together. That meant they would have to take the risks, and if they could handle things successfully, they would protect the town and protect a young vixen who wanted nothing more than to marry the man she loved.

"We will be as careful as possible," Yamato promised, "though in pure theory, that shouldn't be too difficult. The college does have a few small hiking trails around the edges of campus, since its on the end of one of the "spokes" of Moon Lake. In that we could probably have security agents dressed as college students routinely hike the trails. It'd allow for a "stumbling" onto anything truly threatening to be claimed without having to do too much..."

"Good," Chief O'Hara answered with a sigh as he watched Yamato carefully begin to text his answer.

Yamato texted: "Cannot meet. Many undercovers watching. Cannot tell who. Cause no trouble or they get you." Once he hit send, Yamato set the phone down and sat back in his chair and waited.

"How will we know it worked?" Chief O'Hara wondered.

"He'll either text back a question or our agents or officers that are watching him will notice some change in his behavior," Yamato answered.

"And if he does ask a question?" Chief O'Hara sighed, rubbing his temple for a moment.

"Then we can potentially lead him away from Moon Lake if need be, or at least urge him not to cause trouble," Yamato said slowly. "The key there would be to be cryptic and perhaps fearful."

The phone beeped in reply, interrupting the conversation. Yamato looked down to see that there was a reply already. It read: "Undercovers?! They catch you?! Where are you?" Yamato responded quickly: "Not caught, but know I am watched. Cannot meet in person. They will see. Keep low profile. Watch. No cause trouble." Yamato finished and hit send again.

"So he asked?" Chief O'Hara asked.

"He asked a question," Yamato nodded, "but so far... things seem to be working."

"There will still be a way to go, though," Chief O'Hara replied.
