"W-Wait..." Ty backed up against the sink slowly. "I-Is this a trick? You're... you're not acting like yourself, mom, er... ma'am."
June paused, smiled, and Ty watched in amazement as June kneeled down in front of him. "That's because I'm not actually June right now." His step mom said, uncharacteristically soft and gentle. "My name is Lilith, I'm a being from another dimension, and I'm borrowing her body for a little while so I can talk to you. Do you believe me, Ty?"
"I-I..." Ty blinked as he looked into June's eyes and noticed for the first time that they had changed from their normal shade of light brown to a haunting emerald green. "I must."
"Good." Lilith/June said simply, smiling. "I only have a little time left, love, so I'll need to be quick. For now, close your eyes, concentrate very deeply on what you desire, and it will happen. Do you want to try?"
"Like... like Dustin?" Ty gulped, recalling the vision of his step brother dwindling to his own size and development.
"Yes." Lilith/June nodded. "Exactly like that feeling. Only now it will become reality."
"Can I try on you?" Ty's eyes widened. He had began trembling again.
"Well, not me exactly, because I'm not really here talking to you." Lilith/June chuckled. "But I'm sure your step mom won't be able to object. Just remember you have the ability to do anything you want, including erasing what you have done. Perhaps I will come see you again, later, but for now I have to go."
"A-All right." Ty nodded. "T-Thank you, Miss Lilith."
"Good luck, Ty." Lilith/June whispered. "I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do. Happy birthday."
With that, June leaned down and gave Ty a gentle kiss on the forehead, and when she leaned back, the green eyes were already fading to their normal brownish.
"W-What...?" June said in confusion. "Where am I?"
"I-In the kitchen." Ty said weakly, trying to take it all in. Wondering if he had gone mad. "You... you blacked out."
"I blacked out?!" June said in alarm. "Oh, God, I feel strange. Ty, be a dear and help me up." She grabbed her swimming head and Ty held out her hand.
Ty took her open hand and helped his step mom to her feet. He stared up at the tall middle aged woman and wondered what it felt like to have somebody else take over your body. He gulped, wondering if June had any memory of what had happened.
"Y-You should finish the dishes before the boys get back." June waved vaguely at the sink. "I think I'm okay. I'm just going to lie down."
Ty let go of June's hand, his heart pounding, and he heard Lilith's voice in his head, different than when it had been through June. "Try." She said simply.
With June's back turned to him now, Ty wondered what he could or should try. And if it would even work at all. Fear gripped him as he wondered if he had imagined the whole thing, but there was only one way to find out for sure...
