“Hey there, Trevor,” Jasper greeted in a friendly tone, trotting up next to him. He leaned in presented his muzzle to Trevor. After twitching his tail nervously, Trevor leaned in and put his muzzle in front of Jasper’s as they both snorted into each other’s breath, greeting each other like true horses.
“So what brings you out here, this morning?”
Trevor’s ears dipped sheepishly to the side again and he glanced away from the dapple gray stallion as best as he could. “I don’t know. I guess I just wanted to see what people – I mean horses – did here in the morning. Rita said she comes out here to train, I think.”
“She does,” Jasper responded. “But she’s actually in one of the outdoor equestrian courses next door right now. They’re for visitors with an intermediate or advanced understanding of being equine. The arena here,” he said with a nudge of his head, “is for beginners and, on occasion, competitions and events.
“Did you want to get saddled up, too? After you’ve completed your training and feel comfortable under the saddle, you’ll be able to take riders around – if that’s what you want or if you just want to see what it’s like being ridden, that is.”
Trevor let out a snort and flicked his ears back at the arena. He had to admit, part of him had always wondered what it’d be like to have a rider on his back ever since he’d ridden Duster at his aunt and uncles’ farm a few times as a kid, back when he started wondering what it would be like to be a horse in the first place.
But, at the same time, he still wasn’t sure he wanted to spend part of his vacation learning how to be ridden. It all seemed a bit weird and kinky, too. Maybe he’d be better off exploring the paddock again. Jasper seemed to read his mind.
“Of course, if you’d rather do that later, I could show you around for a while, too. Rita told me you’ve only seen part of the paddocks and the barn so far.”
“So there’s more to see?” Trevor blurted out.
Jasper let out a short nicker. “Absolutely. So what’s it going to be?”
