Trevor's truck pulled up to the driveway and Mel gathered her things to get ready to get out. Before she left, she leaned over, put her hand on his, and gently kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you for everything," she said softly before bounding out of the truck. She turned to see a goofy grin on his face before he drove off. She smiled softly as she waved him goodbye. 'You know, Mel,' she thought to herself, 'maybe moving into this town and becoming a were isn't such a bad thing.' She turned towards the door to her house and opened it, to see two women sitting at the dinner table. "Um, dad? Are you here?"
"In the kitchen, honey," Harold called out while working on the stove. She put her book bag down as she joined her father in the kitchen. "About time you came home," he said as he worked furiously on the stove. "We have a couple of guests here tonight. Apparently, our neighbors have decided to join us for dinner."
"I see," Melissa responded as she looked out at the dinner table. She noticed the two talking quietly between each other, but judging from the looks on their faces, it was anything but friendly. She turned back to her dad and said, "Dad, um..."
"Yes, dear?" he said as he turned to look at Mel.
"Um..." she started biting her lip a little. "Can we...can we talk? After they leave?"
His eyes narrowed a little as his lips pursed before he asked, "Is everything ok?"
"Well, it's just...let's discuss it after dinner, ok?" Mel started.
He sighed as he nodded his head. "All right, we can talk once our dinner guests leave. For now, let's set the table and get ready to eat."
"Ok, daddy," Mel replied as she moved to get the dishes ready. Mel grabbed a few dishes along with the silverware and moved out to the dining room where the two ladies were located. "My dad will be out in a few. He's just finishing cooking the vegetables." Mel took a look at the two ladies sitting at the table and wondered what the evening would hold in store.
