You blink a few times, and as your eyes adjust, even though there doesn't appear to be any light, you find yourself lying down in what seems to be a cushioned container. You can't really look down at yourself because there appears to be a lid atop the container, but moving your hands, you assume that you are humanoid. For a moment, you are tempted to panic. What if that crazy voice turned you into a zombie, or a prisoner to be tortured, or something equally likely to be located in a small confined space? You are about to demand the voice get you out of here, but pause. After all, you did want to be able to explore a bit, and besides, you were immortal here. Eventually you would find a way out, and if it got to the point where you were stuck in this boring little place, then you could always holler at the voice to help.
Lifting your hands cautiously, which had been crossed across your chest, you cautiously push upward on the lid of the container. It feels like it is lined with fabric, but not as plush as the other sides. In passing, you note that your nails seem somewhat long, and your sleeves slightly frilly. However, before you can wonder about your new race's fashion sense, the lid easily swings open on oiled hinges, letting in a tiny bit more light, but not from any direct source. Sitting up, you look around to find that you are, in fact, humanoid, although you have no mirror to examine your looks. You seem to be located in a stone room with minimal furnishings, and noticably all the shutters on the few small windows are tightly shut.
Exiting the container, you confirm that you are male, although your wardrobe appears somewhat Edwardian with a bizarre cape. Trying to shed some light on the topic, you walk over to a window and reach up to unlock the shutter. However, just as your hand passes through the thin sliver of daylight passing between the two shutters, you gasp and withdraw at the burning sensation. Looking down in disbelief, you see an ashen line across your hand where the sunlight had hit it.
"My Lord, is everything alright? It appears you have awoken before sunset," a voice from behind you asks as the oaken door to the room opens, revealing a handsome young woman in dark armor which you turn to face. However, the most striking aspects of her appearance are her pure white hair and her blazing red eyes. From whatever knowledge still remains in your head, an idea is taking shape.
"Yes, it is fine, leave me for now," you wave off the woman with an unctuous tone of voice, and she quickly bows and retreats. Stepping back into the center of the room, you run your tongue across your teeth, which confirms the presence of some rather sharp ones. You feel a bit silly, but you can't resist. Flaring out your cape with your hands, you rapidly pull your arms in so that the cape wraps around you. You half expect nothing to happen except you standing there like an idiot. However, the cape tightens about you like a cocoon, and you feel the odd sensation of shrinking, even though you don't appear to be getting nearer to the floor. Disoriented, you quickly reach out with your arms and wave them about...
...only to find yourself flying. Your arms are now connected to wings, which you use to somewhat clumsily land inside your plush coffin, which is now more gargantuan due to your shrunken size. It's official, becoming a bat confirmed it. You are a vampire. Not only a vampire, but from what your apparent subordinate said, a vampire lord. Wrapping your wings about you awkwardly, you feel yourself grow suddenly, and your cape unwinds to reveal your original humanoid form, still dressed.
