A panthress stalked the forests of Moon Lake.
This was not unusual, especially considering that she walked on 2 legs and was seeking someone special.
"Benjamin? Are you here yet?" Kenya Adaeze called out, looking for her boyfriend.
It was almost 7 that evening. The full moon was beginning to rise over the trees, casting everything below within its silvery light.
Then Kenya's eyes grew wide and a smile crossed her muzzle as the joyous howl of a werewolf filled the air.
"Benjamin?" said Kenya, looking around again.
"Geez, and you're the one who told me to totally be aware of my surroundings, including up," chided Ben, as he moved the branch he was hiding behind aside with his paw so Kenya could completely see him.
"You've been practicing," she observed, seeing Ben in his lupine form casually sitting in the tree as easily as anyone else would occupy a chair.
"Yes," replied Ben with a smile of his own. "It's still difficult for me physically, but somebody very special has been teaching me how to climb trees and I want to learn how so I can be with her more."
"The student may never surpass the teacher, but this teacher is very proud of her student," said Kenya, before the werepanthress climbed the tree to sit next to her werewolf.
"It's a lovely view up here," said Ben, scooting over to make room for his girlfriend. The tree, one of Moon Lake's originals, was big enough to bare them both. "A hint of the lake in the distance. The full moon above on a cloudless, starry night. Being next to the woman I love," he added, before kissing Kenya and putting his furry arms around her.
"It is a special night," agreed the werepanthress, snuggling up against Ben's hairy chest. "One to be shared with someone special."
"Aren't they all?" asked Ben in return. "At least, that's how I feel about you, and us."
"Me too," she said, issuing a soft, pleasant growl.
"When I'm old enough to officially ask you for your paw in marriage, I want to make sure we have a place where we can enjoy such a beautiful view like this on a regular basis," revealed Ben.
"It is not just a question of what you observe, but also who you see it with," commented Kenya.
"Then with you, the view is beautiful everywhere," he said, before kissing her again.
"You're usual curfew time?" Kenya asked, when their muzzles parted.
"Yes. You too?" asked Ben in return, to which Kenya just simply shook her head affirmatively. "Big economics test tomorrow."
"Well, thankfully I've already got all my homework done for the night before dinner."
"Oh, my wonderful werewolf," began Kenya, before kissing him again. "Tomorrow's test will count for a quarter of my semester grade. I've studied for days on end but still worry about it. Would you please help me relieve some of my stress before we reluctantly part company for this evening?" she asked, before teasingly stroking his inner thigh with her paw.
"Gladly," Ben said with a smile. "But in a little while," he quickly added. "First I'd like to enjoy this beautiful view a little more," as he began to stare deeply into her feline eyes.
Kenya leaned forward until their foreheads touched, she staring deeply at her werewolf.
Then, as if both were thinking the same thought concurrently, they said "I love you," practically in unison before wrapping their paws around each other and enjoying the moment as the full moon rose higher, casting them in its silvery light.
