"What's up, doc?" (Moon Lake of Earth 2)

added by The Masked Writer 6 years ago A

{{Sorry folks. Couldn't resist the pun in the title.—tmw.}}

“Think you can get me something to eat mom? I’m hungry,” announced Peter Talbot, as he laid in his hospital bed and looked at his family. He was the only one present in his fursona, to help with the healing process.
Except for his father, who left to accompany cousin Eugene to the arraignment hearing of the man who shot him just to illegally obtain his 66 Mustang, everyone else was present, including his sister Jean's new mate: werewolf Nate Anderson.
Liv Robinson's in Seattle with her family for the Labor Day weekend. Even if she's heard about this, it will be later this afternoon at the earliest before she can get back here. Wonder when it'd be a good time to break up with her? Definitely AFTER I'm out of here, though, realized Peter, trying to get comfortable in his hospital bed.
"I think I still have some peanut butter crackers from the vending machine in my purse," announced his sister Jean, as she began to rummage through her handbag.
"We better ask someone in a more official capacity if it's okay for Peter to eat first," realized his mother, as she started to leave the room, when there was a knock on the closed door.
"Come in," said Regina Talbot, as a beautiful woman entered.
She was easily six feet tall, if not slightly more. Slim of build but bosomy, with more curves than the freeway between Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas thought Peter, recalling an old cartoon joke from his childhood. But her most striking features were her fiery red hair, piercing green eyes, and the strong scent of were-rabbit coming from her.

"Good morning. I'm Doctor Allen," she announced, pulling a pen out of the pocket of her white lab coat before moving to the foot of Peter's bed to check his charts.
Besides the woman herself, Peter couldn't help noticing that her name tag said "Dr. J. Allen."
As long as that first name isn't Jessica, he thought, glad to be under the covers, for his interests in the woman was growing by leaps and bounds, in more ways than one.
"Good morning Mrs.—" began Regina, about to introduce everyone.
"Miss," the doctor politely corrected her, "but you can call me either Doctor Allen or Jennifer."
After the introductions were finished, Regina shared with the doctor that her son was hungry.
"That's a good sign, but obviously we're going to start him off lightly. Broth and other liquids for now, and we'll see if he's ready for beginner solids tomorrow," replied Doctor Allen.
Then the doctor turned to Peter and said "By the way, I hear you made quite an impression on my brother last night."
"Oh?" asked Peter, wondering if...
"Yes. He'll heal, but you broke his arm in two places."

"And I'm more than willing to apologize as soon as I see him," promised Peter.
"That probably won't be until later today or tomorrow, but I'll be sure to let him know," said Doctor Allen, before she excused herself to continue her morning rounds.
The rest of his family, along with Jean's new were-wedding husband Nate Anderson, resumed their visit until his broth arrived. Then they excused themselves with the promise to be back later today, not realizing the HUGE impression Doctor Allen left on Peter.
