No one knows how the flower fairies first came into being (except, perhaps, a few select individuals). Some say a goddess desired the beauty of a special flower to be longer lasting, so she made them blossom into an entire race; others say a group of forest elves, forest fairies, or both desired to be even closer to the plant life they so revered and got their wish. Whatever the origins, this is a rather interesting race.
First and foremost, flower fairies are entirely female. Their bodies grow flower petals that form into a variety of pattern making it appear as if they wear dresses like ordinary fairies do. The difference is, being a part of their bodies, they indeed feel sensations of touch, on them, and will react in pain it their "dresses" are harmed. That aside, the most obvious distinguishing feature between flower fairies and other fairy types are their broad, flower petal wings. They close up into tightly coiled buds when not in use, then unfurl when they need to use them. It is said to be a wondrous sight when a flower fairy unfurls her wings.
How can an all female race reproduce, you might ask? Simple... pollination. When aroused, her skirt will open up in the front, and usher forth her pistil, which bears resemblance to that of a hibiscus. She inserts it into her lover's vagina (as her lover will do likewise) and... does what comes naturally, if you catch my drift.
Like all fairies, their magic is formidable, as is necessary for a race measuring less than a foot in height. To put it into perspective, an experienced wizard is barely a match for an unseasoned fairy child's power. It's a good thing their even temper makes them generally non-confrontational for the most part.
