Jake sat down at the computer desk and fought back more tears as he clicked on the Programs icon. He was 14, not 7! Two years away from his driver's license, ready to hit high school. Now his license was 9 years away, and he was just two years out of kindergarten!
"Hey! What's that one?" Timmy was looking over his shoulder, and pointed at the screen. "KidReal?"
Jake frowned. He didn't remember that one. Clicking on the icon brought up a very plain looking screen, but there was something familiar about it. Stick figures in what might be a house. There was text on the bottom of the screen.
WELCOME TO KIDREAL! DON'T LIKE BEING YOU? FIND WHAT YOU WANT TO BE AND CLICK ON THE ICON!
Jake stared. "I think this is like X-Reality! A kiddie version!" Excited, he clicked Mont he big Menu button, and the screen filled with crude line drawings with captions underneath. "I bet if we click one of these, well change again!"
He looked at the choices. It was pretty limited, compared to the original game. Or maybe this was what the X-Reality game had been expanded from over the years.
DOGGIE KITTY MONKEY HORSEY BABY BIG KID BIRDY COW
Jake moved the mouse pointer over the different choices. "Big kid! That might fix our ages." Then he looked at the other choices and giggled. "A doggie? That would be funny. Or we could be babies. A horsey! then we could gallop around all day and never go to school!"
Timmy shook his head. "No! I wanna be a big kid!" He grabbed for the mouse, and accidentally made Jake click the buton when the pointer was over one of the icons!
