The drunk in the tuxedo pushed Hemsley aside and fired. The barrel of the gun flashed. BANG! BANG! BANG!
You raise your hands defensively, the claws emerge, the suit's emergency protocols activate. At least that's what Hemsley explained later. You felt the pain as the first bullet hits you, then the second, and the third, but they're not passing through you exactly. You seem changed as the suit stretches and your body compresses with the impact.
BOING! BOING! BOING! The bullets bounce back with equal and opposite force.
Agent Latimer is shot by his own bullets. Blood drenches his white tuxedo shirt, and he collapses on the floor. A siren blares. Your legs feel rubbery, you sit down on a nearby stool. The scientist is all panicky pacing back and forth.
Suddenly, a general is there with team of men and stretcher.
"Take him to the morgue boys, and harvest his organs," the general orders.
"But I'm not dead!" protests the wounded agent.
"You shot yourself three times, you're dead."
"No, I shot that guy in the blue suit, the bullets bounced back and hit me! Ouch. Could I get a medic?"
"Hm, well, the only medic on duty tonight is the medical examiner. Take him to the morgue, boys!"
"Wait! No, please!"
They strap the wounded man in the tuxedo to the stretcher and haul him away.
To an orderly, the general says, "Oh, if Latimer survives, revoke his license to kill." Then he walks over to the scientist.
"Doctor Hemsley, why didn't you tell me you were working on a super suit?" he says pointing at you.
"Well, it's not exactly a super suit, it's a special type of armor, and well, it really isn't ready for this situation."
"Relax, it's a super suit. Bullets bounce off it like Superman. Latimer said so."
"Superman? No, more like Plastic Man. See the bullets go in, stretching and compressing and then the material and flesh inside it snap back returning the bullets along their original trajectory with equal but opposite force. But we weren't ready to test this. The safety protocols aren't in place. You see? No, of course, you don't. Come over here!"
They walk toward where you are sitting. He grabs your arm, stretches it and shakes it. It wobbles violently, as if there were no bones or the bones were made of rubber.
"See. The suit and subject are totally rubberized. I fear irreversibly. I don't know-"
"Hey, Plastic Man may be a B-grade superhero, but he's a superhero. He's our Superhero, so why don't you introduce me to him. Let me guess, it's Agent Cassidy under the blue get up?"
"NO, he's not Plastic Man or Mr. Fantastic or Elastic Lad, but he does have some of their abilities and weaknesses, and I'm not sure. We'll be weeks testing, I am sure to see what capabilities- er, he's not an agent. He's a test subject. Remember after what happened to Agent Campbell? You said I had to use outsiders for testing."
"Oh, damn, Campbell, right? Is he still liquidated?"
"Liquified. And I'm afraid so. Though everyone does comment on the strange moving artwork in the aquarium. I really haven't gotten anywhere with solidifying him."
"Outsider, huh?"
"Yes."
"Okay, son. Mind if I call you son. Why don't we take the hood off, and see what you look like underneath. We'll get you sworn in as a deputy agent - and---" the general pulls your mask away, or attempts too.
