Well the city was doing fine, thank you very much.
However that 20 story building certainly isn't.
When Mrs Smith had gone to the apartment building to check on her aging ailing
mother-in-law,she really hadn't expected the old lady to answer
the buzzer to let her in through the locked
lobby doors at 5am
However the old lady had immediately abswered and screamed for help.
It seemed that the widow Abigail Hubbard,6th floor, apartment 66
was the only one left on her floor.
Everyone else on floor 6 just wasn't there anymore.
Finally Mrs Smith had convinced the panicking
old open to push the
<Unlock Lobby Door>button and Mrs Smith rushed into the building.
The Lobby Desk was unmanned, the Security Room was unmanned
The mop and pails lay overturned in the hallway.
Now starting to panick herself ,Mrs Smith rushed to the elevator
and the elevator doors swung open.
On the elevator floor lay a heap of clothing, purses, wallets, briefcases and newspapers.
But no people.
Mrs Smith hastily backed away from the elevator and took the stairs
to her mother-in-laws apartment.
Thank Heavens, the old lady was there.
Mrs Smith rushed to the phone and dialed
911.
