Before the situation could escalate any further, a late middle aged man entered the tent and his very presence seemed to silence Kayla instantaneously. Something about the way this gentleman carried himself convinced Becky he was someone powerful at first sight and James immediately realised who this was. Both kept quiet.
"Dad! What are you doing here?" Kayla asked nervously.
"I could hear you from halfway across the street. What are you playing at. And who are these?" the tone was calm but somehow menacing.
"Just a couple of dumb mutts who followed me in here" Kayla lied unconvincingly.
"And how long of these friends of yours been in canine form?" the man raised an eyebrow disapprovingly.
"Not long" Kayla stuttered "But it's not my fault. One of them was rude to me, and the other one...he said I could do it!"
"So you risked exposing our family secret for that?" the wizard glared at his daughter who fell silent. He waved an arm at James and Becky who both disappeared.
"What did you do to them?" Kayla asked with some trepidation.
"Sent them back to my laboratory" the wizard explained "we can't have two humans who know our secret walking around here once your spell wears off. It's probably good your wand broke so you can't cause any more trouble."
"But father, what are you going to do with them?" Kayla asked. Her father declined to answer.
Meanwhile, two rather confused looking dogs appeared in a very strange and unfamiliar looking room.
