James padded around his new temporary (he hoped) surroundings and quickly arrived at the conclusion that an already bad situation was quickly becoming worse. The room was filled with all sorts of strange, dusty old books, potions and other apparatus he didn't recognise but which seemed ominous. Becky, having had even less time to adjust to being a dog, was just sitting in the corner of the room whimpering and probably wondering what an earth was going on. If they weren't both to end up as some oddball wizards test subjects he was going to have to fix this.
Concentrating hard, James slowly found himself returning to human form. In one sense he was relieved - Kayla's father probably wasn't aware he could do that - though to his annoyance the dog ears and tail once again remained. Suddenly aware of his nudity he apologised to Becky, who barked something incomprehensible, and attempted to find something to cover up. When it was clear there was nothing, he sighed and resolved to just rescue himself and his acquaintance from this ridiculous situation.
Searching the room, James chanced upon a wand. It looked like the one Kayla had been using earlier. Maybe he could use it too? Perhaps it wasn't her who was magic but the tool she had been using. She had seemed pretty helpless when he had broken it earlier. James pointed the wand at Becky and briefly considered his options. Having the girl as a human would certainly make things easier, and was almost certainly what he would want. Though he had no idea how this thing worked.
"Um, Becky, I'm going to try and turn you back." he announced uncertainly "Then maybe we can figure out a way to get out of here"
Becky barked twice. With no way to translate, James pointed his wand at her and hoped for the best
