Katie and Mike remained attached as they recovered from their joining. Doing so kept more of his semen in despite her straddling his body. Kellie had been wished from existence, but the egg had had to go somewhere, and inside of Katie it had found a home--a home that was soon joined by plenty of Mike's sperm, several of which attack at Kellie's egg, one of them finally succeeding and beginning the process of cell division that would result in the birth of an embryo.
The months go by as Katie and Mike adjust to their new adult lives. Both are surprised to find that their wedding rings are equally capable of changing the ages of people around them--though Katie finds that she cannot change her age at all, no matter what she wishes. She learns why when she visits the doctor and learns that she's pregnant. Both Mike and Katie are ecstatic to make the discovery, but finding that being pregnant prevents the mother from being affected by the ring makes Katie wonder if there are other situations where the ring may decide not to work. Curious though, to see if the ring might affect the fetus rather than the mother, she wishes for her baby to be a few months older, and is shocked to find that her belly stretches and swells out until she's eight months pregnant from the three she had been prior. Having answered her question, Katie wishes to return her baby to three months along. There was no rush, and besides, that sudden gain in baby weight had thrown Katie for a loop. Besides, she still had practice and training to do, and she'd squeeze out all the time she could of that before swelling up like a watermelon.
When at last it was time to go to the hospital to deliver the baby, Katie for some strange reason had settled on the name Kellie. Mike thought she had cheated and popped their baby out to check and see which gender it'd be in order to name it, but Katie hadn't. For some inexplicable reason she just knew that this baby's name was Kellie--and she defended her choice that Kellie was a gender neutral name. While there weren't a tremendous amount of boys named Kellie as there used to be, they did still exist. And if it were a girl, then it would only be the most natural name for her daughter. For some reason, Katie thought that that sounded funny in her head, but she shook it off when the notion didn't go much farther than that odd sense of deja vu.
Finally, nine months to the day after aging Mike up into her loving husband, Katie gave birth to a baby boy whose face looked rather like Katie--or so the nurses said--but had Mike's black hair and hazel eyes. And so Kellie was reborn as a boy, retaining the name of Kellie, and gaining a new father.
